That's most likely because it is the school holidays currently in Leeds, meaning that they are able to run the schooltime services as there is no buses out on the prince Henry's school runs if that's the case why has only the very first trip of the day run and no other so far.

Oh sorry my apologies, I thought you were referring to the 8am run, not the earlier 6am ones. That's my fault for not looking at the link and which service had tracked. In that case disregard that last post about the school holidays as you weren't talking about that.

Heaven knows what it is running though. The timetable says it should leave Otley bus station at 0620, do a loop of Garnett Wharfe, pick up again at Otley bus station at 0630, call at Menston station at 0645, and back to Otley bus station at 0700. The tracking starts on Pool Road at the Knutford stop at 0646. The bus then went straight past the bus station but didn't stop there (no way it could get from Walkergate to Burras Lane in 65 seconds if it had gone into the bus station), and on to Menston roundabout by the Fox at 0653, whereupon it turned round at the roundabout and came straight back to Otley without going to Menston station, not going to the bus station because presumably it had no passengers to drop off after not going to the station to pick any up, and headed straight out of town. The tracking for that morning journey is patchy and often suggests that something has run but doesn't show what or where. On the few occasions where it does show anything, it is not uncommon for the bus to turn at Menston roundabout ... and on the even rarer occasions when it actually reaches Menston station it never gets there on time to make the connection with the train to Leeds that the bus is designed to meet. Definitely some compliance issues here!

I've seen a lack of running of the 8am services in person often when I've been down there at the bus station Anyways, following on from what stevieinselby said: I second what you (stevieinselby) said, It looks like they're only running the 6am and 4pm/5pm services. And even then they're not on time or running via Garnett Wharfe, or even running on the route at all in some cases judging by a quick historic look at Bustimes. The only reason I could see them not running down Garnett Wharfe repeatedly is if the barrier for the bus gate is broken, which it has been several times in the past. I'll have a look to see if the barrier is broken next time I'm down there, although even if it is that doesn't explain the other problems.

I notice the new timetables for the 923 & 781 feature some limited daytime trips via Garnett Wharfe www.connexionsbuses.com/uncategorized/connexions-to-operate-the-wharfedale-services-again/ Oh yeah I see what you mean, that seems to address the current 10:40 and 11:20 trips that the 963 would usually run, albeit instead at 10:23 towards otley bus station using the 781 and 11:13 away from Otley bus station using the 923. However that still leaves the problems with the rest of the timetable for the 963, which is yet to be changed or have anything done about it.

In reality I bet hardly anyone ever used it. These new build developments tend to have fairly young demographics and the households tend to have cars. The development doesn’t seem overly big from looking at Google earth, or too far away that walking into town wouldn’t be an issue

Garnett Wharfe has a short cut into Wharfemeadows Park on the Otley side so the walk isn't far for the town centre, I'm also questioning the timings for the 781 and 923 because it'd have to jump the lights to achieve the allocated 2 to 3 minutes between the bus station and estate lol.

It's a similar case with the 30 in Horsforth, as even though it might not get used much it's been paid for by the developer for an agreed duration of time.

Your comments are based on that sver reliable source, BusTimes. It's like quoting Wikipedia And your source against Bustimes is? . I have none, which is why I haven't passed comment. Especially a comment which accuses a company of "compliance issues". Heck, looking at another thread, there's some "compliance issues" if the lack of tracking on the 29 route is to be believed.

I bet the developer isn't all that bothered if it doesn't run as they've ticked the box by providing the funding, job done lol. As a side note, these section 106 funds don't half get wasted bearing in mind how small the estate is and more importantly how close the estate is both to the main road for regular buses, as well as the town centre for more buses.

You are all discussing the Transdev timetable, not the Connexions one!
The bustimes site hasn't been updated and isn't accurate. It still shows 8 journeys per day. The real timetable is on the moovit site. There are 3 journeys per day. The first is at 6:30am.
There is no 6:20am service and there is no Garnett Wharfe routing. There is a map on the moovit site which shows the route. Garnett Wharfe is on that map, and you will see that the route goes nowhere near it.
As an aside, I haven't seen any reference in the planning applications for the development referred to that require the developer to pay for a bus service, and even if there was, then the development was completed in 2019, and it wouldn't still be a requirement now.

As I said. Look at the moovit site. That's the route. That's the timetable. Everything else is wrong.
The Metro timetable is wrong. That refers to the timetable valid from May 2022. Connexions are no longer operating that timetable. As Connexions own website says -
"963 operates peak hour journeys connecting Otley with Menston Rail Station. This service operates with the financial support from WYCA."
It's a rail commuter service from Otley to the nearest railway station service and only at peak times. That's it's purpose now. The bustimes and Metro timetables are not peak hours only. That is how you can tell that they are wrong.

Connexons don't appear to publish a timetable on their website. I'd have thought these would be the sort of things you'd tear into a bus operator for, rather than defending them. Why would anyone look on moovit in preference to the Metro website? Where do they get their data from? Why would they be the only one to be right? Does Connexions give them data they don't give anyone else (including passengers)?

The former bus stop nearest my home and the one across the road were removed (too near a junction and causing congestion) before I came to live here 14 years ago: but they live on, complete with up-to-date timetable, on Google Maps.

Connexions tracking on Bustimes is often woeful - X70s typically vanish en route, do impossible straight journeys across fields and apparently terminate short in places where that is not practicable.

Mobile reception around Follifoot is non-existent in places, patchy in others. So I doubt it is the companies fault. I have to go to the top of Main Street to get a signal.

Spofforth-Wetherby sort of along the old railway/cycletrack seems a common occurance for a X70 but not for Trandevs 7s

Operators don't update the Traveline database, the councils do and since the error is there and on Metro then the issue would seem to be with Metro processing the registration data. The Traveline set up can struggle somewhat with last minute changes as they have a relatively long & fixed planning deadline that doesn't always keep up. Operators publish data to BODs which is used by many 3rd parties, presumably like Moovit, which if they have their systems set up well can be updated as soon as BODs indicates new data without having to wait for a fixed weekly upload date that Traveline set but generally speaking the operator supplied BODs data doesn't appear to be used by Traveline.

Google is full of mistakes as we all know. If you type in "Who is the Formula 1 doctor", the 1st answer that Google gives you is Sid Watkins. He died 10 years ago!
