The old 737 did for a time serve coppice wood avenue instead of queensway in guiseley but thats no longer an option now it serves kirk lane and new road instead.

Another possibility could be for the new 965 to run to Guiseley every 2 hours (with alternative 2 hourly buses still serving Menston) via West Chevin, the road past the back of Guiseley station to Oxford Road and back along Otley Road to Ings Road back on itself to West Chevin. With no short cuts it's a bit of a walk otherwise to the main shopping area in Guiseley and new links to Otley are provided. The 965 is no longer going to serve Menston - there will be a diversion on the hourly 962 and presumably other people are expected to transfer to the 33 and 34.

I’m guessing on that basis the two Solos will be for the 962 and the 965 will run with a decker, with a gap at afternoon school time on one or the other to enable the decker to do a Prince Henry’s school run (the 962 already doesn’t run at morning school time)

Optare Solo SR NK61 DBZ and NK61 FMD have been acquired from Go North East, although they’ll need at least another two I’m not sure why people keep suggesting full sized buses for what are obviously minibus routes we are just talking through options in general but as Burnside's pointed out even Solos can only just fit around 962 as it is so you'd be looking at a move to Mellor Strata as next option when it serves the new housing estate. Hence why the some of the local routes around Keighley see Stratas used (including Jacksons 903) and same around parts of the Calderdale network.

As crackers as it sounds but to me it would seem the Plaxton Primo would have been ideal motor if still in manufacture for the 962. 965 has always had Deckers, Solos or Darts. 948 & 966 again have always been Solos or Darts. Only way a Solo can successfully fit round 962 now with Parking situation is for a smaller Slimline option been used which explains why some thought TLC were gaining 948, 962 & 966 back.

Solos actually come shorter than Stratas (Shortest Strata is 7.7m,whilst Solos go down to 7.1 if you buy second hand). The main reason for a switch to Strata would be to save on the fuel bill. Of course there's always the EVM or Illesbus options as well, but that would mean a reduction in passenger capacity.

So that means should Connexions regain 948 & 966 alongside the 962 & 965 then i can see them looking at the 7.7m Strata or the 7.9m (7.87m to be exact) Solo (there has been 7.1m available in past but in current Spec brochure sizes for the Slimline range are 7.9m 8.5m, 9.2m & 9.9m with the 9.2m & 9.9m also available as Standard Solo SR). However just using a Standard Strata is the same size as the Orion Plus so to meet with same volume as on the 7.9m Solo you'd need the Strata Ultra which is 8.8m. The Ilesbus I-City & I-City Max as well as their Turas counterpart Rosero Connect are too big coming in at 10m+ in length.

NK61 DBZ - flic.kr/p/2447z9s and NK61 FMD - flic.kr/p/2nfvqMgLook like standard length Solo SRs, similar to the 60 reg ones connexions used on the work prior to losing the tender to Transdev. So they're not narrow versions, but they're not longer than the vehicles they've run on the routes before. they'll be okay on 965, the issue is 962 which by all accounts is now tighter with parking which is why at one point Transdev were prioritising the remaining MPDs to be used as a priority over been used on Keighley Jets. The standard solos will however still allow flexibility to run on 16 in York as well as the current Wharfedale network.

No issue with Solos on any of these routes - 962 has had long wheelbase 165/6 on it regularly for a couple of years now.

I Was thinking of second hand solos rather than brand new, as they no longer sell diesel Solo SRs only electric (the final ones was delivered last year). Also the Illesbus I-City/Merc Sprinter is not over 10M in length, but around the same size as the EVMs that TLC have got (just over 7m),as First Kernow have a batch of Illesbus to replace Solos on the Mousehole route what is alot tighter than 962.

I'm not sure I'd describe removing half the journeys (with a last bus 2 hours earlier) as slightly reducing the service.

You can tell they are running these services with the least resources as possible. As well as the 965 having a gap at afternoon school time as expected, the 961/962 has a gap at lunchtime, presumably so the same driver can work all day.
And it looks like changes to the existing Otley services also enable some gaps for driver breaks as well

They'd be able to get some second-hand sure if they want to pay 40k a time. The EVM Citybus would mean a massive reduction in passenger numbers carried as the largest is a 22 seater. The info for the Ilesbus i got direct from there specs on website

If the contract they've gained is for 2 years (for example) then some Mid-life Solos that are still in fairly decent condition will last the contract length & be cheaper than buying brand new - gong by them buying Ex-GNE Solos it looks like that's what they've done.

Disappointing that WYCA have sanctioned/facilitated the reduction in service here and the long gaps on the 965 on schooldays.

Talking about the 963, I think a journey at 0630 and a few journeys at teatime is all that actually runs. All the other journeys never track and I don’t think they actually exist

It's supposed to as far as I know, however like others have just said I don't think the morning services actually run as they never track on Bustimes and I've never seen them run in person when I've been there, most likely because all the buses are being used on the school runs. The timetable is probably just incorrect as I don't think any Connexionsbuses run during schooltimes anymore due to driver and bus limitations unfortunately. Now that just means that no buses other than the 34 run on a morning, which is not great, particularly since the Dash was always pretty busy during these times

Good question! The Connexions website just says "963 operates peak hour journeys connecting Otley with Menston Rail Station" but doesn't show a timetable: www.connexionsbuses.com/routes-fares/963-otley-menston-station-and-garnett-wharfe/The WYMetro website shows peak-time journeys between Garnett Wharfe, Otley and Menston, and off-peak journeys between Otley and Garnett Wharfe: www.wymetro.com/buses/timetables/963Bustimes shows the same timetable as WYMetro, although somewhat mangled as is so often the case, but tracking only ever shows journeys between Otley and Menston before 0700 and after 1600, nothing off-peak and nothing to Garnett Wharfe.

The website does not show a timetable because the 963 shares a timetable document with the 964, which is getting retimed and reduced to fit in with the newly acquired 965/962 tenders. So that's most likely why it is not on their website currently, although it should be added back on soon once the changes take place. I do have to agree though, like previously said, that the peak trips to menston and the trips before 4pm do not seem to ever happen, even though it says they should on the timetable. The non running of the 8am trips is most likely due to it clashing with schooltime services, although I'm not too sure about why the other trips aren't running. I just think the lack of tracking down Garnett Wharfe is down to Bustimes inaccurately showing the true tracking of the route, much like it does with many other services, as it does often track along the road next to gallows hill. Albeit not every time.

That's most likely because it is the school holidays currently in Leeds, meaning that they are able to run the schooltime services as there is no buses out on the prince Henry's school runs
