I wonder if the developers for Horsforth Vale actually know the problems with the operator? As the public won't know its the developers funding the route! Did the developers get a say on who could bid or operated the route or would that just be down to metro. I'm sure the developers won't want to fund for bus journies to an operator that hardly ever turn up. A Better question would be do the developers care? Funding a bus to them was just another hoop to jump through to get the planning approved & as most if not all the houses come with a parking space they probably won't notice if/when the funding run outs & the bus service is withdrawn. Similar story to most S106 funded routes

These cowboys are paid to run a bus service, and they should deliver it, they bidded for the tender, which means they should be able to run it, and no excuse. What these cowboys are doing is totally wrong. Even their school services don't run properly, if I had a kid at one of the schools, this company operate, I'd consider moving them school! About time these lot go out of business, as they provide no benefit to anyone.

I'm not excusing A&As poor operation of the service or trying to defend them or saying that everyone living there had a car, my point is that it's probably not going to lead to much expecting the developer to get involved when it was just a box ticking exercise to fund it & pay little to no attention to it. I would like to be proven wrong but the fact they didn't get involved when some residents refused to move their cars to allow Route 9 access the area a couple of months ago it does add to that narrative over not caring.

Quite by chance I got talking to a A&A driver today near Boston Spa.
I asked him about the bus in Horsforth and he said it only operates when they have enough staff and buses which is not that often he joked !
Nice bloke to be fair !

I’m sure I wasn’t seeing things but I’ve just seen a Volkswagen Caravelle small people carrier type vehicle in silver. No operating disc or legals visible but had “ 30 Vale “ in the window. Stopped at the main bus stop in Horsforth and dropped a woman off. As I approached it drive off tho ! Reg was RJ61 xxx couldn’t remember the last 3 letters.
Is this a new operator or A&A ?

More like someone actually rang up 24 hours in advance to book a Taxi with A and A on the 30 and they sent a taxi out!

Plus if the A and A route 30 is still going to be operated between school contracts, I can't see them been operated by Solos.

Not sure what ‘going solo operated’ has to do with them possibly using a people carrier though?

Not sure what ‘going solo operated’ has to do with them possibly using a people carrier though? people carrier may have been used temporary if they are going to be going to run the full service as the current Monday-Friday frequency is only a temporary emergency timetable set uo by Metro and local councillors after complaints about it's running. So using the people carrier (MPV) is a good step in one sense but it's bad in another. Now for all anyone knows the VW may have been staff route learning. But before CT Plus folded and had vehicle availability issues they got so desperate to keep it running they used one of the Calderdale Community Transport Citroen Berlingo WAVs on it even though this was the 113 pool car for staff change overs.

Using People Carriers is bad full stop, as it gives the impression they are treating it as a taxi service. If the service ends up carrying more than 8 or 9 people at any one time, they wouldn't be able to get on it, its a bus service not a taxi service.

Don’t try get a photo on old Calverley La between Vale estate and the ring road on the single track road. I was accosted by a guy ( local resident ) walking a very large black dog who interrogated me as to why I was photographing “cars & buildings”. Explained myself ( which I didn’t need to ) and he walked off mumbling !

A and A Bus broke down apparently this morning and blocking the road, hence delaying service 9! So Horsforth Vale can't be served for a while.

It does make you wonder how housing developments of this size are allowed to be built with no alternative way of entering. (Assuming the bus has broken down on the road that comes off of the ring road as opposed to on the estate itself).

Well Yorkshire Buses has already stated that service 9 wont be operating along there, for now

There are two roads on the estate which link to Calverley Lane and that has two exits onto the ring road.
