All I have to say is that the bus probably is not 178-YJ59 NPP as I heard from Paul it is off to scrap, or maybe he was pulling my leg as a joke but yeah. The vehicles are most likely Solos 173 and 175 as they said two Solos are to be refurbished.

I believe Transdev is keeping 167-175 I would imagine and it would make sense. Also keeping 188-190 to keep the larger solos seperate. The Optare Solos will 176-178 are good vehicles but they are very flammable versions of the Solo with their unusual Optare Solo sound almost sounding like MMCs. I doubt that they would keep 180-187 as they are a bunch of ex Arriva North East Solos and Transdev does not really like stuff bought by Arriva hence why the Rosso Geminis should be disposed of soon.
Please note this is an assumption.

181 is out I saw it in the distance on Monday as a Pink Solo however it was missing the rear vinyls. I saw a 57x. So I think it could have been 574 or 577.

As so few Solos are refurbished I doubt these are the buses intended for routes D2 & D3.

Is there any reason why their concentrating more on Huddersfield than Halifax with the refurbishment ? Huddersfield must be pushing 20 odd buses refurbed and i think Halifax has only one so far in service !

Huddersfield has a higher population than Halifax, also worth noting it was the busiest bus station in all of West Yorkshire before COVID. I'm guessing they believe they'll make more money investing in Huddersfield

I'm guessing they believe they'll make more money investing in Huddersfield But Bury has a smaller population than Rochdale and Bury was still the prime focus on Rosso. It had 4 brands: Irwell Line, Red4, TottingtonLine and Trax whereas Rochdale has three: Lakeline, Trax and 464.

Huddersfield have more commercial routes compared to Elland so have more to win by investing (or lose by not investing) compared to tendered routes they are getting paid to run anyway. Also apart from the Tempos most of Huddersfields refurbs have been new additions to the fleet, whilst it looks like Elland are going to be refurbishing most of their existing fleet what probably takes longer due to vehicle availability. Are any of the Calderdale contracts up for renewal this year? that could possibly play into it as well (no point rushing refurbishing the full fleet when you could end up losing half the work a few months later)

Huddersfield services are mostly commercial, so if it wasn’t for the driver shortage, they would be key routes to grow patronage
Halifax services are the few ex-HJC services and the rest are tenders and part way through them as well
Of course you could spin it the other way - why has Halifax received new buses and Huddersfield only second hand ones, so it’s basically a non argument.

Contracts usually last five years but it was three for the August 2020 contracts as the new bus station in Halifax will open for August next year.

Also, if the Halifax fleet is upgraded big-style around the same time as the rebuilt bus station opens it could have a bigger impact. (In terms of my own travels it means I can do Huddersfield this year and Halifax next year).

I believe the majority of the contracts in Calderdale are tied up to the 26th August 2023, which is when Halifax Bus Station is due to reopen. If the 590, 591, 592 contract ends for 2023, Team Pennine could be potentially wanting to run those services to link up with other areas on the Transdev network as 502 currently is the only service linking Team Pennine with the main Transdev network. Also convinced that Transdev won't leave service 502 from Halifax to Keighley alone and un-touched. They will probably brand it at some point.

Services in West Yorks are on a contract to Metro and bus companies bid to run the service eg the 587 contract previously X58 was handed over to First. I don't know when the 590/591/592 contract ends put it was a possibility to predict.
