Hello to all,
Really do hope that everyone is safe and well.
I am sorry for posting this here but i wanted to ask if anyone reads threads in the Canteen section of this website?.
I posted a thread yesterday asking for help/advice on a topic thats bus related and had to place it there as there didnt seem anywhere suitable to post it on this Bus section of the site.
Maybe some of you would be good enough to go to the canteen section on here and have a glance at my post and maybe share your thoughts on the matter.
I really would appreciate all of your thoughts and input.
Many thanks, Bryan.

Other parts of the country are starting to see some improvement to bus services and I would expect there must be forthcoming improvements in our county soon. I suppose the 1st June maybe the start date if the schools start to tentatively return. Anybody any clues or rumours about the next steps?

First West Yorks looking at 75% ish of service provision from next Tuesday. Awaiting government funding confirmation though as capacity will be reduced to 7 people on streetlites or 19 on a decker so no chance of been profitable.

Metro website has changed to saying current temporary timetables apply until May 31.
Northern timetable on RealTimeTrains is also showing full service from June 1st
So maybe they are looking at public transport timetables ramping up in June

Rail operators will be running the timetable they are running this week until at least August, probably September.

We are certainly working towards beginning the ramp up of our services from 1st June however last I heard we are still awaiting clarification from DfT about funding etc, it is expected imminently but I haven't heard anything yet from my directors, so nothing has yet been confirmed as to extent & timing.

Credit where its due! Arriva Yorkshire added extra capacity by putting 2nd bus on the 22:00 working Stourton to Leeds 189 service on Tuesday night and tonight (Wednesday). This service has been getting full recently with all the extra Royal Mail workers, it also coincides with the shift change over (Lates/Nights). But due to the new social distancing rules passengers have been told to spread out between the usual double Decker working and the additional single deck vehicle.

I wonder we’ll start to see ‘Duplicate’ on destination displays, like in days gone by.

Arriva have done a great job in this crisis, I'm sure all bus companies have, but Arriva is my local and they have done a great job. They have put bigger buses on my local route to increase the social distancing measures, which is a good touch and shows they care about the passengers. Good job with them for putting extra duplicates on as well, as I know the 189 is a busy route.

AYW ( Dewsbury & Heckmondwike ) have utilised a double deck only fleet due to the fact that they all have E leather and are easier to wipe down at the end of the day, all of their single decks ( with a few exceptions ) are all material seats and therefore not considered to be the most hygienic

Dewsbury is the ones with full e leather seat fleet of deckers.

So Arriva done a good job there as well

I wonder how many small family coach operators will manage to hold out with all this going on?.
I live about a 20 minite walk from the Shearings interchange at Normanton so i am guessing that now its closed?.
Do you think that Nat Ex and Megabus will survive?.

First Huddersfield seems to be changing its policy on which buses are in service. Last Friday (15th), 22 buses seen in service included seven of the ten StreetLites and only four double-deckers. This is typical of the period since 29 March. Today (22nd), however, in approximately the same time period, 19 buses seen did not include a single StreetLite but nine double-deckers. I don't know whether 'social distancing' was being enforced; last week I was one of 16 people on an Eclipse but today contented myself with being one of five people on a two-car train!

I wonder how many small family coach operators will manage to hold out with all this going on?. I live about a 20 minite walk from the Shearings interchange at Normanton so i am guessing that now its closed?. Do you think that Nat Ex and Megabus will survive?. I have seen reports of about half a dozen small coach operators who have already ceased operating, mostly involving touring specialists, as has David Urquart (a medium sized tour operator from Scotland though one who didn't own their own coaches). The smaller locally based operators may be able to develop alternative work streams like providing extra peak/school capacity to aid social distancing - though this does require extra government funding and a willingness to ease some of the PSVAR regs to allow this to happen - some already have managed to get extra work through new staff shuttles for key workers and the like. There is no sign of this happening or being considered (at least the extra funding streams to support it) currently and even if it does they will need to hang on for a while until life gets to the point where they are needed (particularly in reference to schools as it will need most of the schools to return fully). As for NatEx & Megabus, both are part of major groups who have other revenue streams to keep them ticking over, and in Scotland a level of service is still running due to the different nature of the network there - it does depend on how they (& particularly Megabus in this regard) were doing before the crisis as to what form they return in. This particularly refers to NatEx who are multi-national operating in other parts of the world at different stages of the crisis & with different funding regimes. NatEx also have the advantage/issue that they don't own most of their coaches or employ most of their drivers so they don't have that extra cost base to support but they must be concerned whether all their contractors will be available as they return, a lot of the coaches NatEx do own don't operate their own services but do other type of work like corporate contracts which may still be running in some form (I believe that NatEx through Kings Ferry, for instance, manage the/some of the national Amazon staff bus contract which has probably increased during this - they generally don't run the vehicles but sub-contract to others and take a management fee). It does raise the question of whether this will affect the mooted soon to be launched UK domestic Flixbus operation that was announced early in the year as they will have been as affected, or more due to the cross-border nature of some of their work, by all this and may no longer have the spare cash to enter a well developed and established market (most of the time they pioneered the market as countries liberalised over the last few years) with strong competitors.

The 363 has been the usual 54 plate Gemini’s due to the need to have guide wheels
Probably the oldest buses First have been using over the lockdown period.

It looks like First will be running a new X4 service from Seacroft centre to Leeds via York Road (7 route) from Tuesday 26 May. Strangely it looks to be operating out of Hunslet rather than Bramley who run all the other First services using Seacroft.

Morning - it looks like they are indeed running express X4 services from Seacroft Bus Station from today direct to town. I don't know what times they are running but three Hunslet Park buses were ready to set-off. The supervisor said that they were running as duplicates when they were full but does anyone know any more? I don't know what times the return trips back eastbound from town to Seacroft run though? I've attached a photo of this.

I've managed to get some information about this now - this will be a very useful service and I actually hope it will get used. Mornings westbound 0635 - 0905 every 15 minutes. Evenings eastbound 1505 - 1805 every 15 minutes starting from Park Row P5, Boar Lane T2, New York Street K11, York Street, F5 and F2 then express to Seacroft Bus Station.
