ConnexionsBuses as stated above are set to take on the 781. Apparently they will be increasing their presence in Otley by taking over the 923, Transdev's journeys on the 940 and the 964 as wll. so Connexions are taking on the Otley's again gradually I think the peak 940 journeys and the 923/964 is basically one bus working.

Is this finally the end of the 781? I hope not but can't imagine who else would take it on. Although I had been prepared to postpone my next Leeds visit to include Arriva StreetDecks, I may well come later this month if route 781 is indeed facing the chop.

It looks like Connexions may be taking it on Thank you for this potential heads-up. This could provide Connexions their first route in Leeds city centre. It could be worth gambling on waiting before deciding whether to ride it at this stage. Provided it does continue, I prefer to ride it once I can continue to Ilkley or even Keighley and not have to wait long to ride a refurbished class 333 train.

Not at present - the am peak 940 arrives in Otley 9 minutes after the 923 leaves, but it does mean that the vehicle off the 940 could work the first 964 around half an hour later and then go empty to Holt Park for the 940s that Connexions already operated The vehicles working the first 923 has time to work the rest of the 923s and 964s apart from the 1225 working of the 964 which could be worked by Connexions using the vehicle working the 781 immediately before beading back to Leeds assuming that otherwise is parked up as per the existing. Connexions rostas at times are pretty weird going by the interworkings that show on the bustimes web site while some seemingly only do a few services and then vanish for the rest of the day

Quite likely that there will be some tweaks to the current timetables, and that the off-peak 781 which they’ve also gained, may also interwork at some point during the day.

Apparently Connexions have also got the 963, which doesn't currently exist, but is said to be the tender for Otley to Menston village, so if true, could be changes to the 62 and 962 also?

It will make a refreshing change to have Connexions run route 781. It's just a pity that it is not currently destined to continue to serve Leeds city centre.

Looks like there is a week delay on reopening New Station Street to buses. Services affected: 4, 4G, 5, 11, 11E, 15, 16, 19, 19A, 40, 757 and Dalesbus * UPDATE * A scheme to improve the New Station Street means it is closed to buses, until Saturday 5 October. Buses are being diverted via Mill Hill and Bishopgate Street and will call at nearby stops. From Sunday 6 October, these stops will re-open. RE: the 4 in Pudsey. They have been having difficulties with someone/a resident who is apparently a serial complainant about the buses serving Highfield Green. First have tried a number of strategies to deal with this in recent years including terminating a stop earlier but these inevitably annoy passengers. There have also been some other complaints about Highfield Green bus stop being used as a terminus because it sits on a sweeping bend opposite a T-Junction with no lay-by.
Local politicians intervened earlier this year at a site meeting with the outcome suggesting that Waterloo Road was used as a terminus running the bus round Highfield Green then waiting time at Waterloo. At the same time for reasons that don’t appear to be in the public domain, they decided to cut off Inghams Avenue on the Pudsey bound route and run it up the Marsh, which is narrower with cars parked either side of the road. There have been complaints from many stakeholders involved.
It appears that the plan is to restructure the timetable to reduce waiting time at Highfield Green. My concern is that they have padded the Seacroft bound timetable out to accommodate late running. The timetable will make interesting reading and I hope that the service reliability is not adversely affected by this change.

Starting the 781 at Meanwood is a bit odd. Presumably it's an easier way to interwork with another service, but surely continuing to/from Leeds would be better for the routes survival?

To be fair, if-and-when people get on, it tends to be from Meanwood onwards. Very rare that someone gets on in Leeds city centre
