Does anyone know if / what new vehicles are due at Castleford ?
Was talking to a colleague at ANE Stockton last night, and he has been told that they are to receive the Tempo's that are currently at Cas. Obv the Max refurb isn't happening now for these vehicles.

One things for sure. It wont be the VDL powered Wrightbus integral, as they don't do them anymore. I would have thought the build lines at ALD for the euro 5 E400 must be coming to an end, so maybe Cas will end up with euro 6 E400MMC's.

I would think that as castleford had 1930 on loan from dewsbury, it'll be exactly the same as these, presume they was testing the route with it

No, it doesn't say there's a MAX launch for Castleford, it says, they've something special planned for Castleford. Which basically means there's a max launch OK then, IF indeed as you claim, it's another MAX launch for Castleford, and if indeed, these are brand new buses for the 189, why not wait until March 1st, and put them out on 16 plates, instead of 65 plates, which they would be if put into service in February? It may not even be MAX'ed, it may just be standard livery, with new buses?

Arriva The Shires launched one batch of vehicles on Sunday 31st August 14 as 14 plates, rather than waiting till the next day and getting them as 64 plates!

Erm lets see, arriva have no common sense, they launched all the 61 plate Gemini doubles 1 week before 12 regs came out, that's probably why !

Does anyone who uses a bus service actually notice or care when the vehicle was registered?

Are brand new buses cheaper if they enter service on 28th/29th feb 29th/30th aug than entering a few days after?
I agree any normal human being would wait for the new registrations but its a business

Probably means less to a bus company, than a coach company, who would like to get 16 plate coaches out there to gain extra business.
There will be many factors at play with a bus company, the expiry of MOTs of buses being withdrawn and the cascade programs that are relying on the new buses, any any PVR increases along the way. With registrations changing every 6 months it probably means less these days anyway, as by September they will be 'old' anyway.

Given how unreliable the Geminis have been, I won't be at all disappointed if they don't buy any more VDLs!

These may therefore be the type chosen for route 189, built to MAX spec. I have heard a rumour that the Tempos are heading to the North East, and as route 189 buses are apparently often full this is a ideal moment to convert the route to double-deck.

Y'all are forgetting arriva have the busses sat in the depot for a good month or two before actually launching them, so they would have already been registered?

Correct, they wanted all 40, 61 plates delivered together for a big launch etc, but, only 39 were delivered in time, hence why 1548, has a 12 plate, cos that got delivered in March direct to Heckmondwike depot instead of to Wakefield.

Launch day at Castleford depot in three days time, and, apart from seeing one of the new E400's at the back of the shed a couple of weeks ago, no more news, eg, fleet numbers etc. Suppose I'm gonna have to wait till Sunday then?

They'll follow on from Wakefield's E400's, I do know that a Heckmondwike driver put a photo on, of one of theirs at Scarborough, and he put fleet number would be 1971
