Just announced today is a new service linking dewsbury-dewsbury hospital-heckmondwike-Cleckheaton. What an exciting new link, it's a surprise nobody has ever run that route before.... They've probably made more announcements than they've had passengers.

Their Twitter account is an amusing read.
The 284 is increased in frequency next week, yet Metro don't seem to be aware of this, is there even a registration with VOSA for this?
The 268esque service will apparently be run by Volvo double deckers that they are buying.

To be honest, if they continue to carry on the way the are at the moment, I can't see them lasting out the year without having the licence revoked!

Reading between the lines on Twitter they look to be setting up a 268 competitor using smaller Plaxton or Streetlites on the Dewsbury to Cleck section with the Volvo deckers as an extension possibly to Leeds.
I can't imagine they will be expeanding the 284 next week as there are no registartions anywhere for either a licecne or service.... unless they are going to operate for free?!

They probably think they don't need a service registration now they are a CiC

To be honest so far they've burned through a lot of money and it doesn't seem to be running out judging by their future expansion plans, it wouldn't surprise me if they did operate on the 284 and 268 rival route for free for publicity and to drum up future custom. If that happens then we know they've either lost the plot or have so much money they can afford to do it.

The Volvo deckers will be specious with only 16 seats in, perhaps they will add tables and wifi.
Or perhaps they could run the service over night with 16 bunks in and have a go at Stagecoach. No more ridiculous than the current operation.

Was the 284 meant to be increasing in frequency this week? Has this happened? Still no registrations on VOSA or any details on Metro.

Still no official details regarding the increase in the 284 service, although I was in Dewsbury yesterday and am sure I saw 2 buses running the service?
A note on the SGI CT Twitter page cryptically mentions a service 269 which I am presuming will be the 268 copy along with thoughts about a "new" direct Dewsbury to JCT 27 vis Batley and Birstall. I still think that this route has merit but they should extend to Leeds via M621 giving some valid competition for the 229 rather than just shadowing an existing service.

They are considering extending from retail park and doing a gildersome loop

About the only thing they haven't yet considered is flights to the moon. Which seems about as likely as their other expansion plans.

They are considering extending from retail park and doing a gildersome loop Sent from my GT-N7100 using proboards Personally I don't see this extension adding anything except dead miles. There can't be that many people in Gildersome who want to go to JCT 27, Birstall, Batley or Dewsbury and vice versa. Gildersome is a dormitory town of Leeds - most people who live there will work in Leeds and most people will do their shopping in Leeds - I can't imagine anyone in Gildersome planning a day trip to Dewsbury! As such it would make much more sense to run a Leeds-Gildersome Circular type service with one route heading out of Leeds via 229 route up A62 Geldard Road and then continuing through the village onto the 209 route and heading back to Leeds along A58 Whitehall Road with another route working in the opposite direction. Looking at the 209/229 timetables the 229 is timetabled to take roughly 25 minutes Leeds - Gildersome. The 209 is timetabled for roughly 27 minutes so a full Leeds-Gildersome-Leeds circle would take around 55 minutes. This means an hourly service each way is possible or a half hourly service between Gildersome and Leeds albeit one service using A62 and the other the A58. Gildersome used to have 6 buses an hour to Leeds (217, 219, 221, 229 and half hourly 94), it now has just 3 direct (5 if you count the 64, but this service takes over 50 minutes) so there would be scope to carve a market, more so than a service to Dewsbury or Batley.

Not forgetting Gildersolme also has half hourly links to wakefield,Bradford & White Rose plus doesnt the 205 serve Gildersolme for the few people wanting to go to dewsbury? - carnt see a need for it

Whoever does those timetables needs to go to timetable school. You don't just have 1 minute turn around time at the end of the route!

No doubt it's been designed to kept their bus just in front for an Arriva one, some strange intermediate times too, Dewsbury Hospital to Heckmondwike 10 mins yet just 5 mins in the opposite direction

That would explain why the Saturday buses run at completely different times to weekdays as well, as of course the 268 runs a different frequency on Saturdays.

They are obviously playing Arriva at their own game, as Arriva deliberately scheduled their 280 ahead of SGI's 284, however as the 268 is a frequent service and SGI aren't, it won't have quite the same impact.

Tweeted today @sgictyorkshire: SERVICE 200 COMING SOON... THORNHILL EDGE - DEWSBURY - SHAW CROSS - WHITE ROSE CENTRE. EVERY 50 MINUTES. FREE RETURN TRAVEL!!! Would make more sense to run hourly than 50 mins.
They have modified the twitter page and they made a mistake and its actually hourly not 50 mins.

Also would imagine that the service will start late November/early December, just in time for the Christmas rush. Might also be a case that the 200 will run in between the gaps on the 284 service to create a combined 3ph service between Dewsbury and Thornhill.
