Local coverage about the launch of the 53 service in Morley: www.morleyobserver.co.uk/news/local/new_hospital_bus_service_launched_1_2973953Also, the mayor of Morley will officially launch the service tomorrow (Monday), by cutting the ribbon on the 10.18am service from Morley Town Hall to St James's Hospital. The 105/106 service will also be launched tomorrow by Wakefield Wildcats's mascot Daddy Cool, along with some of the Wildcat Dolls, in Alverthorpe at 12pm tomorrow.

On the Yorkshire Line forum under job vacancies section it said :
"To boost our new team of drivers we are taking applications for casual and part time drivers.
If you are are looking for either stand alone school work, single days or weekend work please email your CV and Covering Email to : yorkshireline@virginmedia.com".
Since when did Yorkshire Line became part of Virgin Media brand?? Just wondering :S

I'm guessing the Daddy Cool bus is named after the Wakefield Wildcats mascot, given they have a presence in Wakefield with four services (counting 105 and 106 as separate). Any ideas where the others came from?

Any ideas where the others came from? Of the four Services 2 are just for positioning 182 one each way and X10 two each way to position 2 of the 3 buses working on the 53. The 105/6 is really just a single route operating each way in a circlular route round Alverthorpe. I hope they keep to time because if the two meet or even meet an Arriva MPD on the Peacock estate it could get Interesting. Arriva use their MPD's for a reason on the Wakefield Estates "accessibility"

Went on 53 and 106 between Wakefield & Normanton today; very friendly staff but timekeeping issues as would be expected for the First Day of Operation. Fares don't seem as competitive as they should be considering - a Day ticket is £3.20 - rather steep for such a limited network off peak. Weekly fares are better with a 53 rider priced at £10.00.

Many passengers use day tickets purely for one return journey so I think £3.20 is a sensible price. £1 or so cheaper than Arriva and First for their day tickets (20p cheaper than First off-peak)

£3.20 does seem a sensible price for a day ticket. Local Stagecoach have there day ticket priced at £4.00.

The UVG would benefit from some new paint, where have I seen other operators with such a well turned out fleet

True reminds me of New Enterprise of Kent! But they use a broom to paint theirs - similar colour scheme though and what's worse is they are part of Arriva and therefore should have the money to invest in the fleet, I think they are slightly embarrased about that! Being a new company they have done well so far, the UVG's are just spares and shouldn't really be out in service.

P141 TDL AKA Melly was on the 106 today looking a bit worse for wear. Lots of tape around the rear bumper etc. However the loadings seem pretty promising to say we are just a week into the new routes.
