I thought the owners of posh dock paid Metro the funds to run the 70, take it they've paid First directly? To be brutally honest, Metro should have said something in the press as well as directly to the owners of posh dock about this wasteful service, most of the time it's empty with only a short Solo load of people on it at the most! Ironically it's been set up to be an environmentally friendly way to get to posh dock however running empty most of the time it's adding more pollution to traffic clogged streets! Regarding the 781, yes it's used well on market days but Leeds has a market, Leeds has buses to Otley, why the special treatment for Alwoodley when several places in North Yorkshire don't even have a bus to their nearest town! It's a bit like giving Seacroft a funded bus service to Castleford, might be used well but is it really needed? It's a luxury which in these economic times shouldn't be allowed when other more essential routes are getting axed. We might as well go the whole hog and give Middleton a direct bus to Meadowhall A simple re-distribution of public transport funds is needed, West Yorkshire has money to burn, e.g. they throw money on free town buses in small towns like Dewsbury and Huddersfield, North Yorkshire needs it! I don't see what it has to do with Metro if a private company chooses to pay a bus company to run a route. It's not as if they'll give money for a route that doesn't serve them if they give up funding that one. There doesn't seem to be much point comparing with NYCC unless you'd like Metro to give up supporting almost all the services it pays for. The free town buses are part funded by Wakefield and Kirklees councils. Leeds and Bradford were unwilling to continue funding theirs, Calderdale unwilling to ever start. If money is saved in Dewsbury and Huddersfield, it's not going to be spent in North Yorkshire. in regards to the Dewsbury and Huddersfield Free Town Buses these are also funded by other parties besides Kirklees Council, Sainsburys for example also funds the Dewsbury one and the traders in Huddersfield fund theirs. Im not sure about Wakefield Bradford and Leeds though. Also considering Kirklees Counc wanted to AXE the Huddersfield Free town Bus, it was traders, MP AND public petitioned for it to remain. The Dewsbury one is been reduced down to one bus running 09:05 to 14:45 Monday to Saturday axing the busy weekday trips and considering its always full Wednesday & Saturday anyway Kirklees & Metro have messed up as they're only going to have to reinstate the axed trips. The 09:05 start is fine for on a Saturday but it should finish at 16:00 at the earliest.

It does seem they are losing their roar as they've tweeted this morning giving the arriva customer service line as the new contact number to use. Hi, I don't think this is a case of "losing our roar", it is a case of providing a better service for our customers. Previously compaints were handled, and logged by the depot supervisor. The transfer to the dedicated customer service team releases time for the depot supervisor to concentrate on day to day service delivery and regulating our services. Hope this clarifies the situation. Stuart Fillingham Thanks Stuart, it does. I also look forward to seeing more of the tigers in Dewsbury from the end of the month when YT take over the free town bus.

you used to be able to but thats not been the case for 14 or 15 yrs as nowadays the doors have timers to close themselves due to Health & Safety. ....timers ? Penfold on the eclipses, pulsars and geminis (possibly olympuses as well) if the driver doesnt shut the doors straight away they shut themselves after 2 mins and I have witnessed that happen.

Old unreliable Presidents 》Replace with slightly more reliable Lowlanders 》Save up for new buses 》 Buy new buses in a year or two Or Old unreliable Presidents 》 No funds available so take out Wonga loan to buy new vehicles 》Overstretch your finances 》See the business plans of LOT, Tates, GHA etc Surely it's just basic economics, you can't always have what you want unless you're a major lottery winner or royalty. Look at First who are currently doing exactly the same in Leeds and Bradford and Transdev who are refurbishing buses, new buses cost a LOT of money and need to be purchased over time. Unreliable Presidents? Not when I used to drive them, plus in summer, could drive with doors open to circulate air. you used to be able to but thats not been the case for 14 or 15 yrs as nowadays the doors have timers to close themselves due to Health & Safety.

Tbh was gettin 52 plate lowlanders the best idea anyway? Long term they werent guna b around for a long period. Would NT it hav made sense to get 7/8 new deckers in instead of a short term fix? the ideal solution would have been get a few more younger vehicles.

Was guna ask if the spectra's would b gettin the frequenta rebranding seen as they dominate the 148/49 but given their age they wud b on the withdrawal/pool list within the nxt couple of years I imagine the spectras and 499 alongside 1620-28 should be going pool or leaving anytime in the new year onwards.

3 left, 687, 691 & 696 were seen in service in Wakefield today. Wasn't 1 still left at Selby or has that gone? 687 was left at selby until 1612 could be relieved at Hecky. So you know have the last 4 arriva presidents all at Belle Isle and 662 has found work at dewsbury for now and there may be further usage at sister company Yorkshire Tiger before they go for scrap.

it wasnt a fatal crash. Dont make false assumptions on summat so serious. It was a fatal crash, it's online on the batley news and Huddersfield examiner I've seen the articles and it says that the was an accident and the cyclist sustained serious injuries with the police staying on scene to establish what happened.

Latest update from Metro, all tendered services now covered..... On Monday 3 October, West Yorkshire Combined Authority was informed that bus company Ladies Only Travel (trading as LOT) had gone into liquidation and would no longer be operating any bus services. The Combined Authority’s Bus Services team has worked hard and has been able to make the folowing alternative arrangements for the following tendered services for which the Combined Authority provides financial support: 31/32 – Yorkshire Tiger from Weds 5 Oct 88 – Square Peg from Thurs 6 Oct 197 – Watersons from Weds 5 Oct 226 – TJ Walsh from Weds 5 Oct 635 – TLC from Weds 5 Oct 781 – Yorkshire Tiger from Thursday 6 Oct 933- Yorkshire Tiger from Weds 5 Oct Bradford City Bus was a commercially run service so the Combined Authority will not be supporting a replacement. However, it will be sharing passenger data with bus companies operators to see if anyone wants to run it commercially. One thing I have spotted to be missing, what about the school services???

I think the following may go to these operators. 31/32 Connexions 49 & 197 M Travel 226 TJ Walsh 635 TLC 933 YT (Honley) First or TLC may take on Bradford City Bus. 781, as we know, seems to had a curse on it, firstly with Centrebus/Yorkshire Tiger/LOT. 31/32 possibly Squarepeg? 226 maybe First, they were the previous operator years ago? Bradford City Bus is entirely commercial, TLC don't tend to do commercial work, so maybe First might have a go? squarepeg could also get 88 although that MAY go back to First like the 933 has gone back to YT.

Arriva's facebook post advertising the 268 route says the buses do have charging points 1900-13, don't have charging points, unless the 1500's that are 268 branded, have charging points? 1519-21 and nor do spares 1522 & 1523

Yesterday - I was on 662 which did a stint on the 213. According to the driver, a double decker is allocated to this route each Saturday now, but he was not sure why this should be. 662 is allocated to 213 monday to saturday. When I saw it Wednesday doing the 13:09 from Dewsbury it was pretty full suprisingly but it may have something do with the fact a double decker is shorter than the single deckers at dewsbury.
