Hot on the heels of First 36930 which has just undergone MOT and repaint, along with a new gearbox, 31092 entered the paintshops on Thurs afternoon. I, personally think these are superb buses and think it's such a shame the majority have left the fleet.
Single deck Scania 61083 (8605) has been off the road now for some time and is awaiting an engine from a suitable doner.

I saw one of these H reg buses in service on the Headrow this afternoon. I thought they were meant to be scrapped last year?

If you are after some more old Rider vehicles, Chester is a good place to go as they have a handful of Alexander RH H---VNW Scanias, plus some old York DAFs with either Ikarus/Optare bodies.

All Optare Delta's have now left PMT and i think about 2 or 3 Ikarus DAF's were scrapped.

It appears that 61083 has a new engine, but not a very good one! As posted on another thread, this bus seems underpowered when in first gear.

Hope the Scania's, both single and double decker remain in the First Leeds fleet for at least a couple more years. Great buses!

Here, here!
I always chuckled when igot on one and the driver seemed to be pinned to the back of the cab by that massive steering wheel!!

The Scanias that were bodied by Northern Counties weren't popular with drivers due to the cab ergonomics!

I've been told today that First Leeds 61079, currently stored at Hunslet Park has been secured for preservation. Don't know who's bought it but i'd suspect it's the Transport Yorkshire Preservation Group but that's only a guess.
(PS: Hate the inappropriate apostrophe in the thread title, who on earth put that in? Oh yea, it was me!

I'm over the moon that a yorkshire rider example has been preserved. Anybody know how much 61079 was to this mystery preservationist ?

I've been told today that it's been bought by a guy who works at Hunslet Park so my earlier suggestion that it could be the Transport Yorkshire Preservation Group was incorrect.
No idea how much though.

This is untrue. Please STOP this rumour mill - details about this will be made in the future.
