What does everybody think to the ALX400 been replaced with the Plaxton Presidents or do we think that they will get replaced with the 9TL in later life?
I personally think it is about time we replaced these as they seem to be getting a bit worn, and as was yesterdays case, an uncomfortable ride.

Surely the ALX400s aren't going to be replaced yet. There's older more worn buses that need replacing i.e the olympians and the royales that are now 10years old!
There isn't any point in replacing the ALX400s with Presidents as they both have the same engine. Interior wise i agree they could do with a refurb but thats happening in place.
B9s will be replacing them, when i do not know but could be soon with a huge order put in by first with Wrightbus

Some second-hand Scania Omnidekka's would be nice. I've just come back from a two week break in Brighton and have got to say I'm quite impressed with them. Brighton and Hove have LCD Screens fitted to the Scanias showing images of the upper deck, lower deck and rear of the bus in a continuous loop! Don't think it would last long in Leeds though!
Also saw some nice buses with First in Weymouth whilst I was there. There were plenty of Olympians, a couple of open top VRs and some Omnidekka's aswell.

Wasn't there talk of Leeds getting some ex-London Dennis Tridents? Gossip was circulating earlier this year within the Company that Leeds were getting a number of second hand low floor 'deckers from London for service 96 but I don't think it was specified if they would be Trident or B7TL. It's all gone quiet on this now anyway.

I heard that, and i also heard that they were going to be Dual Door of course this was before the Stupid Health & Safety man went a bit over the top with regulations in the bus station.

I heard that, and i also heard that they were going to be Dual Door of course this was before the Stupid Health & Safety man went a bit over the top with regulations in the bus station. I'm getting rather bored of these pointless little rants about Health & Safety which you would expect to read in the red tops or local rag. At the end of the day, it saves a potential accident from happening with Metro and First recieving fines over Health & Safety, this could potentially cost more than the cost of the scheme to get the centre doors removed. Who would be stumping up for these fines in the long run, the passengers through fare rises and the tax payer! Anyway, back to topic, do we really need dual door Darts on the routes that the current step entrance Darts operate on. No, not really.

The only Leeds routes which would benefit from dual door (double deck) buses would be the high frequency Overground routes serving high density population areas (i.e. similar attributes to London) - for example, the 2/3/12/13 group, the 16 and 40/49/50 group, to name but some. As Jack hints, putting a dual door Dart on, say, the 67, isn't going to speed things up along the route much!

the 40 & 50 both use Seacroft bus station so i'd say they wouldn't get them but give me dual door buses any day on the 56, especially when the rugby is on &/or its school/college/uni term time!

56 deserves dual doors, those ALX400'S that get allocated to them look warn down and old.
They would work well on the 56 i would reckon.

True! If they get ex-London buses, they will all need repainting into Barbie 3, probably all need deep cleaning and seats re-trimming, after all think of how many passengers travel on buses in London each day!
As for the ALX400s, some of the older ones do look a bit worn but the ones that have had the repaint and deep clean look nice and fresh, so why bother replacing them with Plaxton Presidents that will be around the same age and need exactly the same jobs done to them!

the presidents that places are getting are from around 98/99 and are older than the alx400s n i doubt they're in better condition than the alx's and could be worse.
i think they look fresh from the outside but majority of the seats are worn and dusty, and need re padding and a good steam clean for the whole inside and get rid of the branding!

I have heard and seen my self how well the FCB is perfroming. Dont you think now we need a upgrade from the Optare Solos to maybe Plaxton Presidents or something the size of a Dart.

Bit of a big jump from a minibus to a decker isn't it Nick? Well it's not up to First what buses go on the service as Metro own the Solos.
There could be the possibility of larger vehicles getting purchased for the route and use the current Solos on Bradford's new FreeCityBus.

Plaxton Pointer SLF, i stand corrected. Don’t know how it would manage to go behind LGI.
Yep that is a possibility, brand the Pointers up, place them on LFCB then send those that were used on the Leeds City Bus over to Bradford.

So would you be degrading the route by putting older Plaxton Pointer 2s on Nick

I was more on about a Brand New Fleet of them, than the current ones.

You can't buy brand new Plaxton Pointers anymore, and they weren't badged as Plaxton Pointers for at least a few years now!

The way metro are going accessbus wise is mainly merc sprinters or solos, i would like to and can see them purchasing some Solo SRs as they look the part and will offer the same qualities if not better as the current solos

The Leeds FreeCityBus did get a partial upgrade with half of the fleet replaced by larger Solos (when the Wakefield bus started and the smaller Solos were sent there). Other than the usual morning and evening peak, the free bus looks to be running just fine with the current stock, and even at peak times it seems perfectly acceptable to me to have full standing loads on a free service.
