Could be very successful towards Huddersfield if journeys use Huddersfield Road straight up from Elland. Also apparently rather than going straight down the A629 apparently the faster way to Huddersfield is to turn onto Edgerton Grove Road and then the A640. Rubbish, as soon as you turn onto the A640 from Edgerton Grove Road, you'll encounter far more traffic any time of the day than what you would if you'd stayed on the A629. Yes but off peak it is faster using A640 according to Google Maps GPS.

That ran from the Thirties to the Eighties, as the 236, 237 or 238. Then became the X37, Saturdays only. Then after a break the M1 ran Saturdays Huddersfield to Meadowhall. (I used to be able to get from my parents' in Ripponden to the Nottingham suburbs on just 3 buses.) There was also definitely an X37 from Halifax to Huddersfield only, in the mid-90s, every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes, I seem to remember. It was possible some were numbered X36, too. Yes, this was additional information. The X36 and X37 were half hourly for a long time Monday to Saturday with, for most of that time 1 bus an hour on a Saturday not going into Elland Town centre but continuing to Meadowhall or Huddersfield. At peak times there were 4 buses an hour

As SYPTE named Arriva Yorkshire as being against their enhanced partnership in the BSIP I Would guess they are the ones not co-operating with WYCA as well.

They seem to be more onboard here but we don't know what they are like behind the scenes. The last batch of changes were mostly positive. They may be honoring the request of the WYCA, with the request being to not go forward with any cuts until September 2023.

I thought itd would be First who would be the ones against the enhanced partnership as in the latest bunch of changes Arriva seemed to be cooperative and take over where First have cutback. On the flipside, Arriva have done a lot of cutbacks before hand so who knows.

Depending on the reasoning for the lack of cooperation I can easily see Arriva not co-operating for enhanced partnerships, as DB have been wanting to sell off Arriva but couldn't get a decent price so it wouldn't be a shock if they was pushing for franchising so they can get the PTEs to take it off their hands at a decent price. The fact it mentions Wakefield has not yet got any plans set in stone despite it having almost as many proposals as Leeds in the original 2019 'Shopping List' is telling, plus I Don't think any of the current plans for Kirklees involve North Kirklees. The operator not co-operating with the franchising proposals mentioned the other month I would assume is First (or Transdev),as they was the ones pushing for partnerships over franchising. Whilst there was no cutbacks from Arriva during this round of changes there has been multiple over the past few years & even where improvements have been made in most cases some areas still lost out.

Are you trying to start rumours? no i am not trying to start rumours just pointing out a very blatantly obivous fact that with the situation across all Arriva so uncertain Arriva will obviously not be wanting to risk going in to any franchises which would require massive long-term commitments. It's also highly noticeable AY is the only operator of the 3 large West Yorkshire operators to have not started looking at the EV prepartions of the ZeBRA funding as the work was supposed have started before now with roll out been easter next year earliest.

Considering Arriva have already backed out of 2 ZEBRA funded schemes it does raise some doubts how quiet their West Yorkshire order has become with only Leicester's being confirmed so far

If any franchise commitment was to be profitable, Arriva would bid as normal for it. Profitable contracts either mean profits for DB group OR a more attractive purchase for any potential suitors.

If the feedback & comments I am getting about Arriva elsewhere in the country is accurate the issue at Arriva is that there is very little autonomy currently, probably related to the attempts to sell the group meaning that head office don't want any risks that may depress bids. I have been told that in one area that the local Arriva management went to the local authority to ask for longer tender deadlines as they couldn't get approval from 'head office' to even say they were interested in the 2 weeks they were being given and this was just for normal single route local tenders. If that is true and replicated for any spending or commitment then I can see that it isn't that Arriva is being unco-operative deliberately but are simply unable to respond to anything fast enough to join in at the moment.

In my local area for instance, It wasn't Arriva route getting cuts near me, it was the independent also cutting their services near me. Before February 2022 we had 4 buses an hour in each direction, with an hourly evening service, that all changed last year, and now we're done to 1 bus an hour, every 2 hours on Sundays and no bus on an evening. Shame, but what can we do. I thought First just because they wanted partnerships over franchising.

Also Arriva Yorkshire has not had a lot of investment in the fleet the last few years, where this year, a lot of their other operations have, Merseyside, North East, Wales, ect, and Yorkshire not had a look in at any of the cascades either such as the e400mmcs from Leicester as an example.

Only decent one out of that lot is 2576, Arriva Yorkshire got the short straw in the olympus/e400 swap

Well this Wakefield superbus route is meant to be launched in July through the BSIP. Is this a new route or is it an existing route? Basically it's a combination of the 125 and 187 route. Castleford-Altofts-Normanton-Wakefield. Arriva is down to run the route, and I presume E200minis 1001-1003 will be going back to Castleford in July to run it

Most if not all BSIPs included 'Superbus' operations so probably started from central government - remember BSIPs launched under Boris who loved buzzwords like that.

The problem with the route listed, is that it won't serve the lower part of altofts, it's just serve the upper part of Altofts which is what the 147 does anyway.

Yes, that means for discussion about franchising before it actually happens, as this thread appears to have been specifically created in response to the Bee Network one getting off topic. Already existing BSIP schemes have nothing to do with franchising speculation and discussion. Well there isn't much to discuss apart from companies won't be bothered to do anything at all till franchising starts because why do anything if you're not going to win the franchise? All companies have to do now is the bare minimum? Why put any work in now, when some other company will reap their work. If there's not much to discuss then the thread will be a quiet one for now. So be it. travelwestyorks.proboards.com/thread/6554/wakefield-bus-service-improvementsOr travelwestyorks.proboards.com/thread/6503/proposed-enhanced-services-bsip
