rip off, first have been increasing fares for the past 8 years now, I have a metrocard cause it saves costs and stops you buying dayriders that cost this much, especially in the morning.

£2 for a single off-peak fare is ridiculous. I normally don't jump on the bandwagon when increases are announced but the above changes are inexcusable. Very disappointing.

unfortunately, the price of fuel affects everything, buses dont run on fresh air,but try buying a dayrider in scarborough, york or brid for less than 4 quid

A day ticket on Transdev Harrogate & District is £6 by the way!
All the Transdev companies have already put their fares up, blaming rising fuel costs, so they are not excluded from this either

dont forget how big north yorkshire is by the way. i can see people startin to use other alternatives such as walkin or cycling. lets face it , u can cycle faster then most first buses run anyway.

When I used to get half fare for being a student, I could get to Manchester for £1.60! If you get a half fare day rider on any Halifax bus (508 for me) the boundary is West Yorks, East Lancs and Greater Manchester! Unfortunatley its a 2 hour trip from Huddersfield on the 184 to Manchester, which takes up quite a lot of your day.

The conditions for the West Yorkshire FirstDay and Day Out tickets is the same. The Leeds based ticket machines only print out West Yorkshire as I would assume, not many people would intend on going to Rochdale, Oldham, Manchester and Burnley.
The same applies for the period tickets as well which can be used into Greater Manchester from West Yorkshire as well.
Last of all, won't the price of the FirstDay and Week tickets for West Yorkshire be going up in Bradford and at Yorkshire West? It does seem daft to have various prices for the same tickets.

Yes they will, it's just they haven't announced their fares increase yet
I imagine their fares will increase too, but they have different scales. It was more straight forward when all of Yorkshire Rider had the same fare scale

The local range of tickets (e.g. Leeds off peak) are fine to be priced locally, but the all-region tickets should definitely be the same (unless this anomaly is now fixed and I wasn't aware). Do Bradford still offer discounts by FirstCard, and incidentally roughly how many Bradfordians make use of this scheme?

Yes, there is still a discount with a FirstCard. Infact, I'm sure you can only purchase a Bradford Day Rider with the Card.
On some journies I have made on Bradford based single deckers, there have been a fair few people place cards on the ticket machine to buy discounted tickets.
Regarding Andrew's comment on the fare scale, it would be a good idea to have a similar scale region wide. But doesn't help with the three management units in First West Yorkshire. Which leads me to ask, do we need three management teams. I'm sure we could have one senior management team based in Leeds. This would be of huge financial benefit to First and would increase profits!

The Bradford FirstCard tickets are for Bradford area use only. Bradford being the only part of FWY that still offers a local peak day ticket (Leeds and HaliHud only offer off peak Day tickets with passengers buying the full West Yorkshire FirstDay at peak times) If I can do a quick plug, the current prices for all prepaid tickets in WY are located here www.westyorkshirebuses.freeserve.co.uk/tickets.htm

Although I note that on your list Bradford still shows as valid within Bradford boundary only, why not all of West Yorks? Incidentally, the Morley Return ticket mentioned towards the bottom of the page was dropped a while back. Of interest too is that First are to offer a FirstDay Family ticket for £5 during the summer school holidays, valid for up to 2 adults and 3 children (i.e. the same validity as the DayRover but cheaper - I'm sure that will please Metro even more!)

I suppose this means the price stickers on the windows are gonna look a mess for another 2 months! If Arriva's Day Ticket is increased again, they may as well remove the price sticker from the top window on the Lowlanders.

I noticed today that on the branded X6's First Day now costs "£ " and First Week is "£ "
They are usually quite good at getting the new prices displayed on time in Bradford

According to First's website, the £15 weekly ticket increase to £16 will only be valid for Leeds services once again. If you want it for the whole of West Yorkshire, it goes up £2 to £17.

The FirstDay OUT is also going up to £1.80. For the six years it has been in existence when it started out at a £1, it has increased by 80%!
