Just wondering if the 965 is being re-numbered to DASH? I saw somewhere that it was still being numbered the 965 The new timetable and area map only have it listed as Otleydash with no mention of 965. images.transdevbus.co.uk/downloads/Otley%20dash%20Web%20TT%2021-Feb-2021_0.pdfimages.transdevbus.co.uk/downloads/210221%20Wharfedale%20Network%20Map.pdfThe real test will be how it is shown on the HTML timetable, but as that is still showing the current times and service pattern into the future, and they haven't loaded the new times into it yet (even though it changes next weekend), I can't tell you the answer to that! Following the Transdev tradition of getting rid of sensible numbers in favour of long names smashing two words together 😥 (CityZap, CastleLine, PendleWizz) Confusingly, on the Keighley timetables index page, the Keighley to Skipton service is just listed as Dalesway, with no mention of 66, but on the timetable page for the route itself it is clearly 66.

Mmmmmm....three different routes for one dash....What happened to route numbers? They could do with giving two parts of it separate numbers, like Dash 1 for Weston to Otley section and Dash 2 for Menston to Otley section, a late running journey may cause some confusion in Otley bus station even with correct destinations. The one I'm surprised has never been re-numbered is the 966, all 3 sections it serves (Yeadon to Guiseley, Yeadon to Henshaw and Yeadon, Haw Lane, Cemetery Road circuit) have journeys that run along High Street where many people board, nowadays drivers do show destinations for each part, but what happens if a driver is tempted not to change the destination when running late, or just puts up Guiseley for the whole service all day? Giving credit to Transdev though, TLC and First never did separate destinations, with First sometimes just showing 966.

Am I correct in thinking that there will be no buses at all between Brighouse and Mirfield with the withdrawal of the 228 and 262? Seems a rather drastic reduction when the route had an hourly service with the 279 etc.

It looks like the 966 just says "Yeadon & Guiseley circular" on the destination board, which means passengers have no indication at all which branch of the route it's going on: goo.gl/maps/R6dVTTtGneCbi8hb9

Seems a rather drastic reduction when the route had an hourly service with the 279 etc. 228 isn't being withdrawn is it? There is the option of a train from Brighouse to Mirfield however. Without that train it takes roughly an hour by bus via Huddersfield and you'd have to buy either a metro day or two tickets as it's Arriva -> First. It would only take 15 minutes longer to walk than to change in Huddersfield at certain times of day (obviously not everyone can walk)

When the 278 & 279 were running were they even popular between Dewsbury, Mirfield & Brighouse lots (excluding Concessionary pass passengers) because if they were then a solution could be a bus running between the three towns.

The 228 doesn't go to Mirfield in any case.
And on the 262, its always worth remembering that when the 278/279 were in their heyday there wasn't a rail service between Brighouse, Mirfield and Dewsbury. The hourly all day service wasn't introduced until December 2007

The hourly all day service wasn't introduced until December 2007 I think its still probably one of the most remarkable declines in service in West Yorkshire where there is no easy alternative, I don't think the train is an alternative for the majority due to bus to train changes & walk from Halifax/Brighouse/Mirfield/Dewsbury train stations from the relevant bus connections which would have also likely served a stop more appropriate to their needs.

The hourly all day service wasn't introduced until December 2007 The all-day rail service only started when trains started running through to Wigan/Southport, trains only ran until around 20:00 when the service commenced operation. As for the Mirfield–Bradford trains, Grand Central had the Mirfield stop put in later, making it possible for a day trip from Bradford to Mirfield by train. (Not currently operating. ) Mirfield–Bradford by bus was straightforward by the through service 253, alternatively by a rather convenient connection at Brighouse between the 278 & other routes. The 253 and 278 are no longer operating.

Google 'wayback machine'. bung in the WYmetro url in the search and you can pick an archive from the past. The links to the timetable PDF's work for 2011, so they probably will for 2016. if the routes you are after are school services, then you need www.generationm.co.uk

Thanks for the above comments about the Brighouse to Mirfield buses - I had not realised that the 228 was only going to be temporarily withdrawn and was surprised to think that the whole link was becoming busless!

The Metro updates are very poor this time round. If you look on the Tiger & Arriva websites they're more useful as got better explainations.

Transdev Harrogate are extending the 1B from tomorrow to serve the new Aldi that has opened in Knaresborough which also means a nearby residential lodge development gets a frequent service, something which it rarely has had in the pass; Connexions briefly operated X1C being the last while the current service is the limited 21 between Knaresborough and Boroughbridge. Not such good news for passengers for destinations on the loop that the 1B operates in that part of Knaresborough who are now faced with a longer journey in one leg of a return trip. As housing development is expanding to the east of Knaresborough it probably is a stop gap measure until an additional service is provided.

Just wondering, I thought the 1B was now using the Aldi as its 'terminus' and operating the same circular before and after the Aldi?

Knaresborough bus station is the timing point, with consequence that is how the x in Connexions X1 could be justified as being X in its normal terminology as X1s typically overtake 1As waiting time in the bus station. Connexions do however use St James Retail Park as terminus meaning passengers for the Aspin Estate have a very long wait on a X1.

So if anyone lives in Eastfield and wants to go to Aldi they have to walk to the main road it seems.

Same problem with all the loops that the Route 1 services, 2A, 2B and 3 operate; there are journey possibilities in one direction only. The 2A with a slightly different route did operate bi-directionally a couple of decades back as the B1 and B1A. The 1A and 1B use to be combined as the then 2 with route running in the opposing direction through the Aspin estate. Making the 1B a non loop service would give potential problems with buses meeting on the narrow Manor Road hence why I suspect it is a stop-gap measure as any further easterly extension would sensibly require an additional service. A similar approach is planned for the 3 where to serve a new addition to the estate the 3 serves the proposal is to run an additional service to the new part of the estate which on a 20 minute interval with the existing 3 reduced from a 15 minute interval to match would give parts of the estate a combined 10 minute interval service.

Now, I know the end part of Vicar Lane in Leeds has been 2 way for the past month, but I've still seen drivers park up in front of the shops on the right on the one way bit. So, bearing that in mind, I wonder if there has been any near misses yet, as I bet the full 2 way stretch has caused some car drivers (especially those turning from those side streets) a lot of confusion lol, oh and I bet those turning from the corner won't be expecting a bus on the right too lol. I bet It's going to be even more chaotic when Infirmary Street goes 2 way with buses allowed to travel up the first bit of Park Row to access it.

There are signs in the shop windows on "New" Vicar Lane asking people not to Park in the bus stops. We shall see. Meanwhile, technically, all those vehicles coming round the top of Vicar Lane have nowhere to go: they can't turn left onto Templar Street, the right onto Harrison Street has been closed for a year behind Grand Theatre and the old route down Lady Lane is now beyond the 05.00-22.00 Bus Gate. Oh, and 11/11A routes are unchanged - they're not using New Vicar Lane. Yet.
