I know that there's already a thread for this bus tracking website but it's under the Arriva section at the moment so this news would not be relevant.
First Leeds buses are currently showing on the site. No colours yet but both Bramley & Hunslet Park appear.

And now they've gone again, and taken First York with them, hopefully they were testing it and they will return very soon

It usually goes off after 6pm daily as there's editing to be processed. I think once all First West Yorkshire fleet are done by next week it should be on at all times while out in service like Arriva and Transdev have done. Plus they need to do the 14 new buses too (9 Yutongs and 13 new StreetDecks).

They've been missing for most of the weekend, it looks like they've been busy updating the vehicle information though. There was lots of stuff like reg details missing last week but it looks like they've taken the weekend to update this. I'd expect them all to be back tomorrow.

Still not back yet, maybe the size of the operation could be causing issues or the data may be inaccurate

It was working this morning when I set off to work at 6.30, strange it went down again because it was pretty much working from mid morning to teatime all last week.

Interesting that buses on the X63 never seem to track, maybe something to do with the complications of it being run by Huddersfield and Bradford, so those X63 buses only seem to be shown running random trips on the 200 etc
Also it seems BMC Condor 68693 does one journey on the 398 University shuttle every morning

Only something minor but Transdev buses are now showing where the bus is going to, which means if you look at a vehicle's journey history it would probably be easier to interpret than before where the log just showed the route and certain times of day.

any plans for stagecoach to do tracking, do we know? They normally do, have been on for ages, just look to be down this weekend. It looks to me as whoever runs the site has to take down an operators buses when updates are necessary. Arriva was off a few weekends ago, Transdev last weekend and Stagecoach this weekend. Obviously with a few First areas being added recently for the first time there's a lot to update, hence the on/off nature of their buses recently. I guess the site is run by someone with a day job which explains why First WY disappears every night and why other operators are sometimes removed on weekends.

There must be some potential for more adverts.

These are replies I received from the owner/developer of the website. There's currently a problem with some of the new Bus Open Data Service feeds, including First West Yorkshire's, stopping working between about 5:15pm and 5am. It's not deliberate, and hopefully will be fixed soon. The system does not need to be taken down to incorporate updates. New vehicles are added to the database automatically by virtue of their the machine reporting in. There are adverts, and they make enough money – if you haven't noticed them, maybe they need to be made more obtrusive.
I think it's a cracking website. I know there are several sites for trains, but I've not seen one that shows set/loco numbers. I know RTT does for some operators, but they don't have a map the way that BusTimes.org does.

Yes. its my go to site for bus info. just wish it were more widely known. maybe small operators could cut costs by telling their customers their timetables are on bustimes! But they do have to find a fix for buses that run through journies but are separate services on the national database. Like the Newcastle - Berwick ones, 555 Lancaster Keswick, and Skipton -Lancaster.

I know RTT does for some operators, but they don't have a map the way that BusTimes.org does. As of a couple of weeks ago, RTT now has unit/loco numbers for Northern and XCountry as well as LNER and Scotrail. The Scotrail data now includes the Inter7City short-HST sets, which were missing until recently. I'm less bothered about a map for the trains because the stations are all well-defined. You can get route maps for each timetable from www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/the-timetable/electronic-national-rail-timetable/, although some of them are less useful than others!

I like the way bus times links to google maps street map for a bus stop so you can see where it is. also like their link to Flickr so you can see a pics of bus doing that duty. Its wrong for the NYCC 11 Settle - Horton in Ribblesdale. The bus Doesnt go in the village, it stays on the main road. (The lancaster - Malham Dalesbus does, however). But that will be NYCC's fault. ( have just written to them to ask they verify where the stop is and to update the national database if necessary)
