Have to say the 5 mins earlier from Harrogate struck me when I posted it as being odd as it would only give 5 mins recovery time, still really should not believe what NYCC publish Departing 5 minutes earlier from Harrogate would also mean there would be no layover at Ilkley for the journeys which terminate there, as currently they have 6 mins before heading back to Keighley. I suspect the new timetable will also get rid of the 5 minutes layover at Keighley, which more often than not at present results in either a bus swap or a late departure

The intermediate timings have been adjusted, as the Kly - Ilk bit can be a bit tight. The times at Ilkley are largely similar, in order to maintain the train connections.

Hmm, if the running times are being adjusted the layover at Keighley should be adequate then. Guess its just a case of waiting for the timetables to be released but would hope they are still co-ordinating it with the 66 between Keighley and Steeton

As previously stated above this often happens The scheduled layover is only 5 mins, but as I said previously buses often struggle for time between Keighley and Ilkley, so they'll often put another bus out on time, if they have one, when a driver change is scheduled.

Regarding the 36 Scott Hall Road change, Transdev can't say they weren't told ages ago! It pays to get a bit of local know how before taking such a step.

Big changes to some Dales services in September. Service 74 will be withdrawn except on Saturday where a new winter timetable will commence from October. Service 75 will also be withdrawn. All is not lost as a new 74A will operate combining both routes, so running from Ilkley to Hebden via Bolton Abbey, Burnsall, Grassington and Appletreewick running Monday and Wednesday only and operated by NYCC. Obviously the summer weekend Dalesbus network will come to a close with the skeleton winter network taking over.

Obviously the summer weekend Dalesbus network will come to a close with the skeleton winter network taking over. I can't help feeling that the timetable we have now was doomed to fail ... because it was so woefully inefficient and there was totally unnecessary duplication. Why are both POTD and NYCC running their buses on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, leaving nothing on Tuesday and Thursday? Would it not have made more sense to spread them over different days of the week? Still, at least NYCC have now recognised there is a need for a service to Ilkley...

If you can get on it...
Not unheard of for the first or last journeys from Ilkley to be almost full and standing and that's with a Solo.
Naff all chance with one of the Ducato's, but NYCC couldn't give a monkeys about actual passengers if it saves them a few quid.

Not unheard of for the first or last journeys from Ilkley to be almost full and standing and that's with a Solo. Makes you wonder why POTD are pulling it if it's so popular ... although with the last bus from Ilkley changing from 1740 to 1415 during the week, it makes it a lot harder to have a day out from Wharfedale.

I can hazard a guess exactly why. The majority of users are ENCTS pass holders and NYCC reimbursement is, by all accounts, rubbish. As much good as the free travel scheme is, when it means a bus running full but the operator taking a loss cos of the way they are reimbursed, it's a joke. Services that are needed, particularly in rural areas, end up getting cut. What use is free travel then?

Being the holder of an ENCTS pass I would not object to paying a flat fare(perhaps 50p or a £1) on presentation of my pass when using the bus. However I appreciate that some of the elder population may not be in a position to afford to pay this.

Unfortunately the government have made it illegal not just for bus operators to ask for top up fares but even to allow passengers to make a voluntary donation.

It only takes a stroke of the legislative pen to change the situation but if any change was made then I can foresee some councils(step forward N Yorkshire) taking any flat fare paid by pass holder into account when paying the operator for an ENCTS journey
