Not Quite ALL Low floor. There are still some Olympians (515 - 521) running on these routes. Just MORE chance of getting a low floor bus. They need double decks on the 229 and 219 in peak times. They are way Overcrowded when its a single deck!

Will be a shame to see the Lances go as they're still a pretty solid bus. A fresh coat of paint and they'd definitely have a few more years left in them. The same applies to the Volvo B10B's.

Really??? Most of them the chassis and bodyframe are well and truely past it hence their flexing when going over pot holes etc. So they would need body rebuilding and interior refurbishment along with the repaint. But that wouldn't be financially viable so wouldn't happen so the best thing to do is get them withdrawn.

The Lance's had the worst seats of any Arriva bus. No legroom or padding. They also appeared underpowered, making lots of noise but not really getting anywhere. I won't be sorry to see them go.

Neither will I.
When they first appeared I complained about such as the front offside seat without forward view, poor interir lighting, lack of legroom (on some of the seats knees were perched too high to fit IN the knee-hole), the pair of deats over the rear wheels were too high and the seats had no padding.
I remember the part of the reply which stood out was, "the seats are ergonomically designed"! In other words you don't bounce down on them twice!

Some of these new buses are in Liverpool for the Tall Ships. Arriva are running shuttle buses there and have taken some buses from each depot (only the good ones). They are due to return next Monday/Tuesday so could be inservice then.

Most of the Lances leak when its raining. 819 and 830 being the worst. You will notice there is a line of wet patch all the way the middle of the roof. I have been on these 2 a few times when its raining. Trust me u dont want to be sitting near the window as more water comes from above!!
The new buses have 45 seats if noone knows that yet. Thats good news for my route 229/219

There is one Lance that leaks on the seat next to the step mid-way down the bus. The speakers from the doomed Yorkshire Buses TV that was installed in the late 80's/early 90's seem to channel the water down from a leak in the roof and drop it on just that on seat.

Today I saw YJ08DZB Wright B7RLE in Kirklees in Interurban livery. It only had Arriva on the destination. This is the bus you saw in Kirklees, although by the looks of it it isn't for Arriva Yorkshire. arriva-merseyside.fotopic.net/p52024532.html

These buses don't suit interurban livery! the old style looks better.
on the wright eclipse note, what happened to the bus of the future? it looked good and should be widely used

There is NO 245 route anywhere? Did u mean the 254? Leeds to Dewsbury That left Leeds Bus Station at 3.33. Sound more like this one.

1110 YJ08DVR is also out on the road today and wears branding for the 254/255 service in purple. It appears not be a "Connecting..." branded route.
Sorry, no photo yet.

Saw 1101 (YJ08 DVB) on 254 in Heclmondwike this morning, on its way to Dewsbury. On the cove panel it shows 254/255 with the town names and under the windows it reads "254/255 Connecting Cleckheaton and Leeds".
It dosen't say with what it is connecting Cleckheaton and Leeds, perhaps Heckmondwike and Dewsbury/Brighouse?

I suppose a more generic brand name could of been used to take into account Heckmondwike and Dewsbury too with "Connecting Leeds and Spen Valley" name. Also, do note that the Connecting Cleckheaton and Leeds vinyls are only on the nearside of the buses. Is this so adverts can be applied on the offside and the rear of the buses? More B7RLEs seem to be out in service today with the following noted and photographed, all of these also wear the branding for the services: 1100 (YJ08DVA) jacksbusphotos.fotopic.net/p52410985.html1105 (YJ08DVH) jacksbusphotos.fotopic.net/p52410986.html1111 (YJ08DVT) jacksbusphotos.fotopic.net/p52410986.html

I quite like the Purple branding, and imagine this means there are no current plans to repaint the buses into Interurban Livery now that branding has been applied.
On the subject of branding, I still can't understand why Arriva chose the unusual Grey and Red branding for the Darwens on the 110 service. I suppose it's supposed to be similar to Harrogate and District's 36 Branding, but I don't think it stands out as much as the Red 202/203 branding or the Blue 'Connecting Hemsworth' branding.

If you think about, Dewsbury is doing quite well out of Arriva's investment in new buses in the last couple of years.
The 14 VDL DB250/East Lancs Lowlanders for the 202/203
The 7 VDL SB200/Wright Commanders for the 126/127
The 13 Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urbans for the 254 getting delivered at the moment.
Then the pending delivery of 14 Volvo B9TL/ADL Enviro400s for the 268.
If Arriva were to get some new buses for the 281/283 which could displace the Darts onto the routes with the Ikarus DAFs on. All bus routes into Dewsbury could be low floor.

Back to the point of interworking, I went over to Cleckheaton on the 254 (not a new bus) to see if I would be able to get more photos there but the sun was in wrong place to get decent shots.
When coming back into Leeds, I boarded Dennis Lance 823 which was doing the short working on the 254 from Cleckheaton. When the Lance pulled into the Stand, it showed 220 Cleckheaton on the destination before the driver changed it to 254 Leeds. I don't know if this is a rare interworking or not.
