Any ideas what may be replacing them. Is there anything on order, or possibly vehicles on the way from other Arriva operations? Hopefully their withdrawal isn't being absorbed by a service reduction related PVR cut! Seems a bit wasteful to have even changed the fleetnumbers of the 52 reg Lowlanders.

Tbh was gettin 52 plate lowlanders the best idea anyway? Long term they werent guna b around for a long period. Would NT it hav made sense to get 7/8 new deckers in instead of a short term fix?

If I've understood this properly, Arriva have transferred some 52 plate vehicles to Yorkshire, and moved the 06 vehicles to another depot(s), yet, you suggest they should've got some younger vehicles in, instead. Just exactly, where would they have come from? When other subsidiaries, got new vehicles, surely they would be still be needing their younger vehicles, and letting their older ones go.

Penfold Well no not really !! Heckmondwike lost their entire 06 reg lowlanders and were replaced by 52 reg lowlanders, obviously hecky are in line for new doubles on the 268 come the new year, and the 06 lowlanders would have gone to selby anyway !

Hence the phrase 'a round about way'
Obviously Arriva didn't have brand new buses waiting at a moments notice a few months ago.

The withdrawl of the Selby presidents wud NT hav been a decision they had just come up with on the spot wud it? They knew in advance they wud hav to replace them with something wen if it meant moving deckers from other depots to make up the numbers but even at a short notice they cud hav dne betta than the 52 plate lowlanders surely?

Old unreliable Presidents 》Replace with slightly more reliable Lowlanders 》Save up for new buses 》 Buy new buses in a year or two
Or
Old unreliable Presidents 》 No funds available so take out Wonga loan to buy new vehicles 》Overstretch your finances 》See the business plans of LOT, Tates, GHA etc
Surely it's just basic economics, you can't always have what you want unless you're a major lottery winner or royalty. Look at First who are currently doing exactly the same in Leeds and Bradford and Transdev who are refurbishing buses, new buses cost a LOT of money and need to be purchased over time.

Penfold on the eclipses, pulsars and geminis (possibly olympuses as well) if the driver doesnt shut the doors straight away they shut themselves after 2 mins and I have witnessed that happen.

on the eclipses, pulsars and geminis (possibly olympuses as well) if the driver doesnt shut the doors straight away they shut themselves after 2 mins and I have witnessed that happen. Facts that a driver should know ..... ! The Geminis and Darwen Volvo's shut the doors with 2 seconds of releasing the handbrake if the button isnt pressed (buzzer on Gemini's sounds to remind driver) The Pulsars wont move until the button is pressed to shut the doors even if the handbrake is released (buzzer sounds to remind driver). The Commanders (499 and a couple of the 1400 excepted) wont move until the doors are fully shut after the button is pressed and halt brake releases (interlocked fitted) Can not comment on the Eclipses.
