Maybe it's 1926, this was in a crash on Leeds road last month and was back in service within a week, maybe they just replaced the broken windows and not fixed the panels yet ??

Talking about the spare buses, I think it would have been better if they'd arrived in Arriva livery. Therefore they would look less out of place when they are used on a non-MAX service but would still provide the MAX internal spec when they are on a MAX service.

The MAX spares at Dewsbury will provide more flexibility once the 126/7 is converted to MAX. Might be a different story at with those at Belle Isle on 126/7, that is of course unless there is another MAX route being planed for Wakefield and the Five Towns.

Most likely have a sapphire on the 126/7! GazWilson

I was thinking more about Heckmondwike where their MAX spares appear anywhere and look out of place. If it was a standard livery bus with a MAX spec it would stand out less.

Why bother at all? Arriva creates branding for some routes, then spreads anywhere, those buses carrying the brand; Arriva creates MAX services, then puts them on other routes; Arriva devises the Sapphire spec and allows the buses To be usedon on other services. Some positive marketing ideas, but no consistency in following them through. Why bother at all?

Our Sapphire spare at Stockton stays on the same board every day unless it's required on our Sapphire route (ie if a Streetlite is unavailable)

The buses are in the process of being upgraded and a local Facebook competition was undertaken so looks like the centre/head office and local management not communicating......

According to a friend of mine the 189 max upgrade might not be happening, well not this year anyway, talk of grumbles about using the Tempos as they can be unreliable and wether or not to up frequency cas-Leeds side. For now it looks like theyre just putting time in the 410/189's to improve reliability.
Management may sort all this and it may happen but its looking very very unlikely.

It occurs to me that routes 163 and 166 could be suitable for MAX. They use e-leather Volvo B5LHs which apart from the part-green livery could be appropriate for promotion to MAX.

The seats on the hybrids are cloth. They could refurb the seats and call it 'hybrid Max' or something but I doubt they do it, buses are only 2 years old and fall into the hybrid category so fall under a banner already Doubt the old dears would like the cloth becoming leather either

Not surprised, I did wonder if this was just a wish given the way the 184/5/9 Castleford - Wakefield corridor inter works at both Wakefield and Pontefract ends.

Hybrids are hybrids though, a different brand with a different livery. Why replace that with Max? The same applies to the 306/308 in the North East which would probably qualify for Max if they weren't hybrids. It's best to use Max sparingly not brand everything going as it would dilute the brand. The Gemini 2DLs aren't exactly a poor spec for normal services particularly if they keep the route branding going for those services.

As the ones in the north west have e-leather seats I forgot that the Leeds and Newcastle ones have moquettes. So yes, they would be unsuitable for MAX conversion yet. I think they will have a midlife refurbishment ca 2020 to MAX though!
