Does this mean the 202/203 is gonna be a Sapphire route? Or will the new buses just be standard or MAX specification?

It says in a magazine inside Wakefield depot that the 110s will be getting the sapphire treatment but it didn't mention whether it would be new buses or not There's 11 launches this year, which are as followed: Wales service 12 (Rhyl - Llandudno) - first to launch, 20 new E400s being delivered at present North East services X21 (Newcastle - Newbiggin by the Sea) and X22 (Newcastle - Ashington) - launched late July, 7 new E400s and 9 refurbished E400s North West services 362 (Chorley - Wigan) and 575 (Bolton - Wigan) - 16 refurbished Pulsars (11 Pulsar 1s and 5 Pulsar 2s) Midlands service 110 (Tamworth - Birmingham) - 10 new E400s Midlands service 38 (Derby - Sinfin) - 7 new E400s Southern Countries service 101 (Gillingham - Maidstone) - 6 new E400s North East services 5 (Middlesbrough - Easington) and 5a (Middlesbrough - Brotton) - 10 new StreetLite Max plus one internally refurbished Pulsar 2 North East services X3 (Middlesbrough - Lingdale), X3a (Middlesbrough - Skelton), X4 (Middlesbrough - Loftus or Easington) and 4 (Loftus - Whitby) - 14 new StreetLite Max Shires service 321 (Luton - Watford) - 11 new StreetLite Max Midlands service 1 (Walsall - Dog-in-Tree Estate) - 6 new StreetLite Max Southern Countries services 480/490 (Valley Drive - Dartford)- 11 new StreetLite Max 11 launches this year, 11 listed above. I think some people have got mixed up between the Midlands service 110 and the Yorkshire service 110.

North East services 5 (Middlesbrough - Easington) and 5a (Middlesbrough - Brotton) - 10 new StreetLite Max plus one internally refurbished Pulsar 2 North East services X3 (Middlesbrough - Lingdale), X3a (Middlesbrough - Skelton), X4 (Middlesbrough - Loftus or Easington) and 4 (Loftus - Whitby) - 14 new StreetLite Max It beggars belief that on hilly interurban services with some journeys of nearly 2 hours, they are going to use something as patently unsuited to hilly interurban services while touting it as a top quality service.

Thanks TTT. As I am touring the area in August again, I wonder whether any of these E200s operate any interurban routes on Sundays? I would love some to run to Leeds, or alternatively routes 231/ 232 to Huddersfield, but I realise these latter routes may work from Dewsbury not Belle Isle.

These regularly work into Leeds on service 446 on and evening and Sundays

You are correct it is Arriva Dewsbury who operate 231/2 on Sundays

Just got the new Arriva 2014 handbook, it lists 8 new Trident 2 Enviro 400's for Castleford due as 1914-1921? Anyone heard anything about these?
Mind you it also gives incorrect fleet numbers & allocations for the Enviro 200's and gives the seating as N37D! I haven't seen any yet, but I'm assuming they are not dual door!

They cope well with the hills of Sheffield! They may well be fine on hilly roads round the suburbs of Sheffield, where they are doing short runs on slow roads, but do you really think they are up to the job of carrying passengers in comfort for 2 hours along fast roads (with substantial hills on them)?

You quite finished? The fact they have been ordered with the most powerful engine option available, they should cope. Plus, very few people will use the X4/4 right the way from Middlesbrough to Whitby or vice versa when the X93 proves the same link in half the time. They cope well with the hills of Sheffield! They may well be fine on hilly roads round the suburbs of Sheffield, where they are doing short runs on slow roads, but do you really think they are up to the job of carrying passengers in comfort for 2 hours along fast roads (with substantial hills on them)? Fast Roads? The only time the X4/4 and X3/X3a get chance to get up to any speed is between Middlesbrough and Redcar when they run on the X66 and Trunk Road. It will be the same with the new X5 'Sapphire Express' version of the 5 - which will run non-stop from Skelton to Middlesbrough via the A174 to Lazenby then head to the Docks to join the A66. Again, 5/5a only gets up to speed between Swans Corner and Guisborough, and again from Guisborough to Skelton. Should I also add that all StreetLites on order for Arriva are the Mirco-Hybrid option, although they won't all be in the 'Hybrid' livery (just the 8 10.8 metres examples due for Newcastle service 306, that will join the 10 B5LHs working the 308 from Blyth).

Anyone noticed that the rear nearside panels behind the back axle appear to be grounding or something since a number of the new Enviro200's appear to have dents in them already where the two panels join.
First time I've seen a DB company sign/logo on them as well, plus a distinct lack of fleet numbers although 1007 does have an additional fleet number on the rear centre on the window/engine flap

Isn't that they try out demos before placing orders so they can trial them on roads and see if they are suitable for the routes they operate. Then again they will probably been to Ossett aha

Penfold Ossett is quickly becoming one big emergency roadworks area lost count of the number of temp lights in there.

These won't be the first new buses to arrive which then require either changes to the buses or the road. Could be another reason to keep going back to the same suppliers for more of the same or something very close so you know what you are getting knowing they will be fit for purpose.

'Bashed' my first '14 plate' E200 today. The honour goes to Castlefords 1006. Wonder which one will be the last? Also to pick up on the 'lack of fleetnumbers' post further up the thread. I did notice one (can't remember wether it was 1007 or 1008) is sporting a fleet number just underneath it's rear window.

Why have they decided to only put fleetnumbers on the fronts and not sides or rear on these? ...and of the ones I have driven there are none inside the vehicle neither. Only the Wayfarer base plate carries a small white sticker with the fleet number on it ! Penfold

I am pleased that Wakefield has a substantial new fleet of buses, but I fail to become excited at any of these new deliveries. The new livery does nothing to promote the 'wow' factor.
