Just had a glance at one of the new liveried Enviro's at Belle Isle. Not impressed by the livery I think the would look better in normal livery They will look better once vinyls are applied

What is going on with the Enviro 400's for the 268? Spotted this 268 Enviro on the 299 at Leeds bus station... Is the whole fleet getting a livery change? Like First did not so long ago? Couldn't clock the registration plate, but i think it is a repaint, but then i am unsure as it had new leather (looking) seats... www.dropbox.com/s/vtlh35yelm8osjs/2014-05-27%2015.56.45.jpg

It's either 1901 (YJ58 FHB) or 1902 (YJ58 FHC) as both are refurbished and are in "MAX" livery and they're doing same to rest of the batch soon. 1901 was on 229 yesterday.

Max livery? Just when I thought the Arriva livery couldn't get any worse they come up with this abomination! Fully agree, I think Arriva are miles behind First and Stagecoach when it comes to livery's. Both Barbie and now Olympia from First, and "Beachball" from Stagecoach are bold, bright, modern and eye-catching, Whereas Arriva's interurban just looks dull, dark and unimaginative. To be fair, the Arriva "sapphire" livery looks ok and the Hybrid livery is considerably brightened up with the light green paintscheme, but the rest of Arriva's fleet in normal livery just look non-descript. Perhaps they should sit down and talk with Best Impressions.

I remember some adverse comments about the new First Olympia scheme when it was launched but as you say, it's bold, bright and modern, anything in Barbie now just looks dated/shabby. If we go back 17 years or so when Barbie was new we probably thought that was modern too and it was about the same time that Arriva launched their aquamarine scheme in it's earliest guise. By 2012 though Barbie was past it's sell by date and the same goes for Arriva's scheme even though it's been tweaked over the years. It needs brightening up! It's not just the Arriva livery though, I find the interior of even their newish Geminis dowdy, not helped by their specifying black rubber mounted windows which look like something from the 1970's. Anyway, I'd probably best save that particular moan for another day! :-)

Anyway, I'd probably best save that particular moan for another day! :-) I quote like the Arriva livery, always have done. No, it's not going to set the world on fire, but it's perfectly pleasant – I would rather have that than some ill-judged attempt to modernise it that goes horribly wrong. The buses are a distinctive colour, which makes them easy to spot, and to recognise wherever you go. I'm still not sold on the lilac wash of the Olympia livery. The one thing that I think will work in its favour compared with Barbie is that from first impressions it looks like they've gone for a better quality finish. Barbie suffered badly from being a very cheap white with cheap vinyls, and buses didn't have to be very old before they started to look shabby, even if they were freshly cleaned. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use a white base – it means if you've going to use a white base, you have to give it a high quality finish and look after it. But that wasn't the First way in the 2000s. Hopefully the Olympia liveries will stand up better to the ravages of time. If you want to talk about brightening up, what about some of the latest offerings from Transdev? The new Witch Way, which is black and grey, and the new 36, which is black with a few red highlights. Transdev need to calm down and sort their liveries out properly. That means picking one for each division, and maybe a sub-brand where appropriate, and then sticking with it for long enough to at least get all the buses painted into that livery before they start bug gering around with them again... Still at least we don't have a Go North East or TrentBarton in our midst, with a different livery for each and every route

Good job Arriva don't do that with the frequency that the route branded buses turn up on the wrong routes

In response to steveinselby's above post, the word "distinctive" certainly raises my eyebrows when describing Arriva's present and past livery's. I would have thought "dull as ditch-water", "bland and non-descript" and "positively boring" would be more accurate, But hey-ho I respect Steve's opinion, just as i hope he respect's mine. I, however agree 100% with his comment's regarding Transdev's recent livery debacle's.

Arriva are at least different as they didn't use a white base, like First and Stagecoach do, plus they have distinctive colour that they've made their own. I wouldn't say it's as bad as many are making out, there are many worse liveries around.
Transdev are actually fairly consistent with liveries now. Outside of Transdev York, most are in the correct liveries with distinct brands. Lancashire United is much better than Spot On which has been mostly eradicated now.

I, however agree 100% with his comment's regarding Transdev's recent livery debacle's. It's a distinctive colour, not one that you tend to see on other buses, coaches or lorries, even if there isn't a lot to the pattern or design. Having grown up in London, a bright, bold colour that isn't pillar box red is welcome! I'm certainly not saying that the Arriva livery is the best around, but at the same time I think it's a long way from the worst. Yes, it's aesthetics, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion! (There are only a handful of liveries where I would say that there is only one valid opinion - the scribbles that Arrive-with-no-Style used on the 492/493 being the first one to spring to mind!)
