Well 99% of their fleet is Solos, so I'd guess Solos!

They might be after some Thirsk School work, Smiths appear to have been having a rough time with the Traffic Commissioner lately (routeone 420). I'll never forget the oneliner "sorry I'm late, five buses wouldn't start this morning!"

The Silsden—Ingleton one is basically the Malham Tarn shuttle (Malham village—Tarn—Settle) with one inward journey from Silsden and a couple of excursions to Ingleton. This replaces the Little Red Bus service that ran previously.
That's only two of the four Dalesbus routes that Pullman had last year. The 812 'Fountains Flyer' this year is extended beyond York to Easingwold, so I guess will be run by Stephensons or Hutchinsons. The 820 'Eastern Dalesman' is running from Dewsbury this year.

Service 825 appears to be transferring to Utopia from AS Coaches according to the Dalesbus website. Surprising given that the ASC driver was Driver of the Year last year?

Don't know any details, but given that they're losing just about the remainder of their contract work, I wonder if they'll be redeploying those resources to strengthen the 58 and put up more of a fight against Reliance (although if that is their game plan, it is odd that they didn't do it when they lost all the Thirsk town services to D&D last year...)

There's 3 options isn't there 1 - this 2 - something fairly minor such as serving more of Thirsk or routing down Bootham 3 - as 2 plus a cut back to College journeys only (seeing as it is the 58's reason for being by and large) It would be nice to see a later bus to Thirsk to catch the evening peak (post 5.10). Trouble is of course, all 4 buses that leave the Art Gallery around 5.05pm are timed for picking up College students, so any attempt to retime that bus later is just handing trade to the competitors. (Edit - What do you mean by the remainder of their contract work? Thirsk School routes?)

It would be nice if Utopia actually use something other than a step entrance mercedes minibus. What happened to their Darts ?

(Edit - What do you mean by the remainder of their contract work? Thirsk School routes?) Sorry, I was talking rubbish - I was thinking they had some market day services that Stephensons were taking over, but when I look again, it's Hutchinsons that are losing them, not JSS.

I've only spotted on Dart, and it can be found on either the 37 or (depending on day of the week) 486, 488 or 491. Personally I'd rather have a Mercedes minibus on a long ride up to Nidderdale than a 15 year old Dart...

According to their website Smiths operate 15 school contracts and 4 public bus routes (the 58, 2 which run a couple of days a week and a commercial school run). With regards their recent PI the 27th Jan N&P states: ...which must be about their current PVR.

Stagecoach Yorkshire changes on VOSA today with one interesting entry, which is them registering the 444 'on tender to Metro'. New 425 and 48 services also registered (48 presumably the new evening and Sunday service replacing Arriva's 35 and 46 services)

Well looking into that lot i would say the following:
The 48 will be run like Tate's Travels 23/25 operating the same bus/ driver from Barnsley to Upton as the 47 and then continuing the Pontefract as the 48 ? Pointless really. Why not just run the 47 right to Pontefract and to save time not run via Grimethorpe and direct from Shafton to Hemsworth.
The 425 & 444 will interwork the 59. I'm guessing there just Evening & Sunday Tenders ? But still the 59 is only every hour at the best of times so i see a new outstandation coming or lots of dead millage.
Only time will tell but looks interesting doesn't it
