Just a little outside April but fairly close enough. Geldards are planning to cancel the 53 service. Whether there will be a replacement service or not, we'll wait and see.

It'll be to do with the Metro consultation.
Significant changes to what was planned or just what was planned?

What about First or Centrebus gaining some services in the Keighley area? That would certainly be interesting and suprising Whatever it is, the consultation will be part of it. From Metro website: www.wymetro.com/consultation/busreview/keighley

Or keep throwing random names into the fold?
How about Stagecoach? Godson's? Geldards? Lyle's?
Yeah, you get the point.

Hmm, if Transdev do lose work in the Keighley area they are going to have a surplus of buses yet the repaint programme appears to be continuing

I'll go for my wild card, Transdev Burnley will extend one of their number 1s to Hebden Bridge hourly all day, 7 days a week during the day. The bus may then go on to run the 500 bus to Keighley before that runs as a 25 back to Burnley and vice versa. As daft as it may sound, it means Transdev dig more into First teretory and they can free up a couple of buses in Keighley to work as spares for when services become disrupted. Breakdowns on these services could be covered by either Burnley or Keighley, depending on where the breakdown takes place. It also could be the answer to the teaser about something happening to services around the Hebden Bridge/Todmorden corridoor.

Unlikely considering the 1 is a Starship and the 25 is part of the very complex network of Mainline services. The services affected by the Metro changes are some local services and service 500. I assume the cryptic clues are that one or more of these have been won by someone other than Transdev.

Believe service 500 is due to change numbers and will be part of the 663 after the review

Think I read that the 500 is to be retimed to provide a better connection at Hebden Bridge with the Blackpool service, although I can't see anyone other than Transdev operating this service

Hang on, might have cracked it, currently service 593 to Old Town is funded by Metro between Hebden Bridge and Old Town, I bet both First and Transdev have won the 500 contract, it'll be re-numbered 663 and both will jointly operate it from Keighley via current 500 route then diverting to Old Town and on to Hebden Bridge via current 593 route on an hourly basis with First contunuing 2 hourly via current 593 to Halifax. The Blackshaw Head bus E and the current 591 may both be withdrawn and replaced by an hourly 591 from Blackshaw Head to Hebden Bridge continuing 2 hourly to Halifax. The missing journeys in the Green Line timetable will be made up of extra short workings to Hebden Bridge or maybe even Todmorden from Halifax. Have I cracked both puzzles?

What you all might conclude is that Metro have been criticising the bus companies for years. The bus companies have invested to bring higher standards of vehicles andrivers, smartcards and GPS etc. To reward the companies for all this Metro increasingly gives the contracts to the cheapest bidder and brings the quality right back to what they were complaining about in the first place!

www.wymetro.com/consultation/busreview/keighley[/quote] Note some of the changes are modified since this was written (see other thread on this forum). 78A Keighley-Skipton (NYcc supported but not supported by Metro) - proposal, reduced to Every 2 hours.
