Neither of them will work though as the 47 doesn't run on an evening or Sunday so couldn't interwork with the new 48, I presume driver changes will be conducted in Hemsworth. And you can't interwork the 2 Wakey services with only 1 Barnsley service it just wouldn't work. The 59 and 444 will interwork in Wakefield and the 425 will run empty to and from Wakey as its only a Sunday evenings tender.

VOSA now reporting that Yorkshire Coastliner have registered the 112/113 Sunday services in York w.e.f. 1 April, which is odd given that the council's consultation doesn't close until the end of this week.
Also that Harrogate Coach Travel are registering timetable amendments for the 142/143 and X70/412 w.e.f. 30 April.

Also that Harrogate Coach Travel are registering timetable amendments for the 142/143 and X70/412 w.e.f. 30 April. OK, it looks as though they are really pulling back on the 142/143, and will be running the following journeys, on schooldays only: From Ripon: 0705, 0915 and 1610 to York / 0815, 1515 and 1805 to Boroughbridge To Ripon: 0837 and 1551 from Boroughbridge / 1340 and 1640 from York The X70 will be extended hourly from Wetherby BS to Aire Road and Deighton Bar, which will mean one extra diagram on the route, and there will be one earlier journey from Deighton Bar/Wetherby to Harrogate than now.

Wonder whether Eddie Brown will make any changes to their 142/143 services. Also, if the X70 is extending to Deighton Bar, does that mean starting earlier from Harrogate, looping around Deighton Bar before some continue to York as the 412 or does that mean the interworking on the 412 is withdrawn and the 412 runs separately?

Not certain of an extra diagram for the X70 as judging by photos on Flickr of X70s waiting time outside Wetherby it seems that they often use an extra vehicle now, presumably to maintain the timetable given delays on the A661 in Harrogate.
The EB journeys on the 142/3 are funded by NYCC, HCTs journeys were IIRC in response to NYCC only providing a 2 hourly service.

Buses will leave Harrogate and Wetherby at the same times as they do now. The buses that don't continue to York as 412 wait for 5 minutes at Wetherby BS then run to Deighton Bar (15 minutes), wait for 20 minutes, 15 minutes back to WBS, wait for 5 minutes then back to Harrogate. That means that instead of the Harrogate—Wetherby shuttles needing a single vehicle, it will need two. The journeys that interwork with the 412 are unchanged – VOSA have advertised changes to their 412 timetable, but NYCC haven't yet published what those changes are.

Whats the odds on the 142/3 timetable being quickly revised given the total inbalance between the two routes.

Whats the odds on the 142/3 timetable being quickly revised given the total inbalance between the two routes. Hopefully pretty good. It isn't in anyone's interests to leave it like that. Eddie Brown could up their service from 2-hourly to 1½-hourly with the same vehicle allocation (as they do on Saturdays) now that Connexionsbuses have effectively pulled out of the route. The current timetable was only ever a bodge to fit the subsidised EB journeys around the commercial CxB services.

If NYCC hadn't been so tight fisted about the 412/413 tender and let Arriva keep it then there wouldn't be a problem. The timetable under Arriva was far superior to the current rubbish!
Also the same goes for when Arriva operated the Ripon routes.

There's very little difference between the current timetable and what Arriva used to operate. It is more or less hourly now, just like it used to be. It may have lost one journey but it has gained elsewhere, and the through services to Harrogate are a definite plus point. The best timetable we've had in recent years on the York—Wetherby route was when H&D used to run it as 79 through to Harrogate. The whole point about a subsidy tender is that it should be given to the operator making the best value bid. That usually means the cheapest one, that's the rules of the game. The problems kicked in when they took the 142/143 off HCT, and they started looking around for other things to do. NYCC had originally given Eddie Brown the contract to run a more-or-less full hourly service on the 412/413, but obviously there was no point in going with that once HCT had registered their services on that route. The best timetable that we've ever had on the York—Ripon route was the latter days of HCT/ConnexionsBuses, with a sensible hourly service alternating between Skelton and Dishforth.

What about when the X42 used to run, was the basic 142/3 every 90 mins or 3 hours? As I understand it this was run by United so presumably passed to Arriva NE initially.

No - taken over with the Ripon United depot by Harrogate & District. They published an initial timetable that was the old United one with the statement that they were looking at improving the service then withdrew the whole 142/143/X42 service apart from some Saturday journeys. Procters (before Dales & District was invented) took over via a NYCC tender before H&D won it, then (IIRC) Arriva , Arriva & HCT, HCT, HCT & EB

According to the Dalesbus website, there will be time changes to the Ilkley to Grassington 74 in the Spring and the same for the Skipton-Buckden via Grassington 72/R. This is due to the review into Craven services so I expect there will be a number of cut journeys and overcrowded Solo's during the summer!

Kind of like a little way out of our area but none the less it's near York so I'll put it in. The moorsbus network has been saved for the next 2 years and will be re-launched in a different format (maybe using existing daily services like they are part doing at present with the 5, 93 and 840) from 2014 as has been discussed on here, the operating days have been reduced to Sundays and bank holidays only. Because of the reduced days of operation I thought i'll do a bit of research and see if the winter only 199 from Helmsley (it's near york!) to Stoksley (it's still in Yorkshire!) would become an all year service and an interesting thing cropped up, Hutchinsons only have the contract until 15 April, who will get it after that and will it run all year (we need a excuse to call in sick dammit!) we shall have to wait, hope, pray, grovel and see.
