Is that half complete?? Looks like they've given up on curvy swoops and gone for lines and points instead. How modern... I'm not impressed by that.

Should have gone for the blue version of that as it looks like part of the Scottish flag! Hmm wonder what first west Yorkshire will have!

It looks horrible! I like the Barbie livery but it is often ruined by ads. But local liveries are better, but not that one.

I quite like it, although it needs more green and less triangles!

Credit to Giles Fearnley! I hope West Yorkshire gets a livery like that.

Credit to Giles Fearnley! I hope West Yorkshire gets a livery like that. Looked my emails and its been said this maybe more of a commerative livery for 'Eastern Scottish' to which similarly a preserved B10M Citybus is in the identical livery from the 90's. Even though I would not be surpised if this gets rolled out throughout! Would make First unique in every area but I think if they kept Barbie around as the bulk livery for quick transfers etc... Otherwise it can be costly repainting buses etc..

I think a different livery (slightly similiar to the scottish one) will be rolled out in different regions but different colours like the old days.

So it probably is just a heritage livery then?

The livery was applied in Scotland, the bus had been refurbished and re-painted in First Livery at Rotherham prior to going north of the border.

Man with paint brush in his hand this morning told me that Hunslet Part are now awaiting new paint deliveries, currently colours and style unknown.
Expectation of much overtime.................

Is this the same paintbrush man?
New paint you say, have they run out of the crisp white?

Yes same person, unfortunately he didn't know any more details except the Scottish one will be the "First" of many new regional liveries. Question was will it be a Leeds one, Bradford one etc or just one for West Yorkshire or since all of Yorkshire is under the same management will it be a Yorkshire wide one.

With the way inter-group transfers have quietened down (barring the odd ALX400/Royal/RH) I think we could be in for one for each depot. The resurgence of Calderline, Kingfisher, Bradford Traveller, Leeds City Link?

I think it will be just West Yorkshire & South Yorkshire liveries based around the old Yorkshire Rider & SYPTE liveries. I don't think they will go to the extremes of really local liveries, if they do it will be interesting with transfers, loans etc.

Not even Transdev can keep up with repaints when buses are transferred thesedays and don't seem to care

The barbie livery was a carefully chosen livery that although I must admit I was very unimpressed by; as many people would agree, it was a stark innovative design flair that broke the mould and proved that liveries need not be old fashioned and could have in the right hands transformed the image of bus travel (excuse the unintended pun!) when combined with other innovations. The reasoning for the choice of pink and purple was actually founded on sexist principles, the majority of bus passengers statistically are female and therefore to appeal to the target market they adopted feminine colours; stereotypically pink and purple. Also being brightly coloured and totally different from the competition helps to identify their buses as a prominent feature of the area in which they operate. More recently since living in Yeovil and later in Leeds I have become accustomed to it and I have become slightly fond of it! But I still prefer the vast majority of liveries compared to First's! It would be interesting to see a return to regional liveries!

However a pale cream base with some nice Prussian Blue banding ala Midland Scottish above and below the windows would get my vote.

The Barbie livery was inded strange at first, it was like going into a female sanctum like a lady's hairdressers ( I once went into the latter to deliver some anti-motoway lealfets and I felt very out of place). But Barbie stood the test of time better than Stagecoach stripes which I thought were great at first but soon loooked old fashioned. I for one do not want to see any liveries based on PTE liveries or nostalgia. The future of my bus service is very dependent on making motorists think buses are cool and posh. That was one of the ingredients for Coastliner and 36 success.

A Gemini in Yorkshire Rider colours. Something i have always wanted to see. Not sure the scheme would suit many modern buses however im guessing it will be updated.
I would prefer Bradford Traveller and Leeds City Link colours back ahead of Yorkshire Rider. Anyone remember the experimental blue and orange at Bradford on L604PWR.

I think the green and cream Kingfisher livery that was a take on the old Yorkshire Rider worked well, especially on some of the Atlanteans. I didn't like the Leeds or Bradford local colours at all and the Calderdale yellow and blue was easily forgettable.
Hopefully they will also either relauch the overground or forget it altogether in favour of route brands like Trent Barton or Trandev to a lesser extent.

I guess for re-launch of overground they could have a Lothian style with the same livery across the fleet but a different coloured top / front for each route.
