A Gemini in Yorkshire Rider colours. Something i have always wanted to see. Not sure the scheme would suit many modern buses however im guessing it will be updated. I would prefer Bradford Traveller and Leeds City Link colours back ahead of Yorkshire Rider. Anyone remember the experimental blue and orange at Bradford on L604PWR. I think that was the worse of the Bradford Liveries 5204 was also adorned with it. 1997 livery the best

Whatever happened to the plans to rebrand all the buses in Leeds to Rider Leeds. I remember one of the Scania double-decks been painted in the Huddersfield livery.

Yeah that was the badgerline era Yorkshire rider became just Rider (town) as it became Rider holdings. They were going to buy out some other bus companies and rebrand them Rider(town) then badgerline merged and became separate identities. The decker in question was Scania 8021 (H621VNW). That livery would suit new buses now than the original YR one .... Or would it??

They also tendered for some London routes during the first round of tenders when London's buses were privatised. They obviously didn't win them, and if they had they would have been absorbed into First Centrewest a few years later anyway.

With the way inter-group transfers have quietened down (barring the odd ALX400/Royal/RH) I think we could be in for one for each depot. The resurgence of Calderline, Kingfisher, Bradford Traveller, Leeds City Link? Could this be the time your toe-nails are on the menu, then Kendal?. I have a good memory!.

You might want them to grow quickly otherwise you might start receiving other bits being donated and not sent on sale or return basis either.....................

Not even Transdev can keep up with repaints when buses are transferred thesedays and don't seem to care Looking at the latest WYIS fleetlist there are very few incorrect liveried vehicles in the Transdev fleets, certainly no more than normal. Under Blazefield there were times when liveries were equally wrong like the time in the 90s when there was a mass shuffle of vehicles about and then again when Harrogate got its influx of ex Lancs Utd vehicles. Back on topic I never liked the the Bradford Traveller livery - three bold colours with no relief between and the pale blue was too insipid. Leeds City Link was okay. Doubt those names will return however.

The names will most likely be for example Yorkshire or West Yorkshire, Scotland or West Scotland... Nothing special like Mainline or Leeds City Link.

Repainting all firstgroup buses will cost an absolute fortune. I wonder if the Quickstep brand will ever be re-introduced in Leeds.

Realistically, i think First will probably stick with the generic barbie livery, but perhaps introduce a regional fleetname/identity like they did when they first took over, ie applying the name Manchester or West Yorkshire under the First logo, back to the past ,so to speak. The idea of reliverying each individual operating unit seems prepostorous given the massive cost involved. Given the losses First have incurred recentley, i dont think Giles would sanction the large costs involved, Anyway wouldnt he be reluctant to dissolve the national "brand image" First enjoy. ?.Given that Stagecoach have stuck rigidly with theirs and gone from strength to strength.

Not First's policy to paint that many using outside coach painters, so either loads of overtime of more painters to be employed at Rotherham to achieve all the fleet being painted in a couple of years. Current repaniting programme in Yorkshire would see the fleet being painted in a revised somewhere nearer 4 years.

I doubt it will happen. The cost is £1000's per bus and time's that by a few thousand buses firstgroup operate that is a heck of alot of money.
The more likely scenario is just the odd 1 or 2 buses been painted up.
I myself much prefer local liveries and identities and my guess is passengers do to. Infact many people still call buses "Rider" in Yorkshire.
It would be lovely for the Yorkshire Rider name to come back and the livery, but would it suit a Gemini ?

It costs £800 to paint a double decker at a paint shop & I think with First doing it themselves it will probably cost more than half that.
Look at Transdev, they can get it done... why cant First?

I doubt you would get a half decent job for under £1000 plus the cost of the paint. Although £800 might get you the bottom half of a double decker, remind me which of our local operators did that..........

All new buses come ready painted in the new colour scheme rather than the existing one, additional cost none, nil, zero take your pick. Existing fleet would be re-painted every 4/5 years so just keep going with that only change the colour of the paint again no extra cost, so what's the problem

A few ex-WYPTE double-deckers made it to London. 4 Metrobuses were bought by LBL and ran from Potters Bar garage, while Metrobus in Orpington ran 13 Olympians-Roe on route 261.
