I think Leeds refurbished their Superbus Striders only 2 years after entering service when they did an interior replacement. Going back 16 years. Times have changed, as have attitudes towards such things as refurbs etc.

The Royales aren't low floor the ALX400's are and have more life in them. Thing is, with any bus under FirstBus (especially in West Yorkshire), it wont see a refurb. Especially when the ALX400s will soon be confined to school workings. Love to see that day but WY would need a lot of new buses to replace the Royals and ALX400s at Huddersfield (and else where I imagine).

I think the economic climate will reduce the amount of new buses companies buy.

As we know Arriva are now doing mid-life refurbishments, I believe Stagecoach do, the likes of Transdev, Go North East, Trent Barton etc definally do.

Attitudes have changed.. at First. Thats what i was getting at. Dont spend money unless it is entirely necessary I don't think Arriva are any better. They have to refurbish to make up for the demands which have been placed on the fleet otherwise they would have a fleet where anything over 8/9 years would be dead on it's knees. Look at the difference between the refurbished ALX400 and those still waiting plus the Presidents those at Heckmondwike are far superior to the ones at Selby. For those who like a fast ride look out for 688 operating into Leeds. It flew up Spen Lane on 254 yesterday just like an Eclipse.....
