Better than the endless load of B9TL Geminis Well it would be better than the Urbans - If First bought these as standard for the next 10 years I would be happy

Would you? Aren't the Temsa's cheapo buses along the same lines as BMCs?

I thought the Temsa's were good quality build & there is nothing wrong with BMC's, Infact they are one of my favourite types of modern bus.

BMC's are slow, awful ride and drive, awful build quality, expensive to fuel and spare parts are not handy to source meaning buses can be out of service for days awaiting parts. The volvo's after sales is one of their good selling points as spare parts can often be sourced within a few hours. This is probably a tactical move by First to spur on Wright/Volvo to develop their lower weight bus that they were supposed to be doing.

Anyone know which route/s it will be tested on? I don't know for sure but the Scania they had last year operated virtually exclusively on the 607 so that route would be a good bet.

Unless you have ridden on a Temsa then it must be hard to comment - there are going to be 20 in service with Arriva North East at Redcar giving our members the opportunity to have a day out and report on their findings. If they are over a tonne lighter than the Volvos then performance should be good - but it is the build quality that concerns me. I cannot really understand why many of our members don't like the Volvo/Wrights - either Geminis or Eclipse - the only answer I can think of is that they are ubiquitous!

Would we all be sick of the sight of the large amount of Antlanteans and Olympians roaming the streets of Leeds 20 and more years ago?

I take it those that are wanting the different single deckers are willing to pay for the 4 or 5 types available to First. Another fare hike anyone? Thought not.

To be fair when a new type of bus is launched operaters do feel a need sometimes to test out a demonstrater to see if the new bus is better or worse that the buses that are currently being bought .
I will reserve judgement on the Temsa until if/or when I ride on it

It has to be only way to comment - experiencing the bus first hand. I'm pleased to notice more comments on the actual performance of buses, rather than a bus straying off its normal route or has acquired a new sticker!

I just feel this is Temsas way of trying to get into the market. Imo, they will have sold it to First to test out, bigged up its fuel economy etc and told First that they can have it for x amount of time free of charge.
I doubt First requested the bus at all.

Well here's a press release from First about the bus, no mention of the fact that the bus will be supplied by Arriva Bus & Coach, Gomersal! They have also photoshopped barbie livery onto the image of the Temsa. www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/latest_news/?id=005521
