not quite a breakdown but B7TL 37045 seemed to be having electrical problems for the last few days as it struggles to start whenever the lights are on as evidenced tonight on the 1 took the driver 7 attempts to get it to move from starting the engine to turning on the lights which were flickiering quite badly. only took the driver 7 attempts to start the engine with it

It sounds like the starter motor is failing to engage and again it is taking the driver 5, 6 or 7 attempts before the bus would start.

Arriva Selby B7 President 682 failed to start in Selby Bus Station this afternoon. It required a new part to be fitted to the fuel pump before the fuel would flow to the engine.
Repaired in the Bus Station.

Water pouring out of the engine? Should water be anywhere near the engine? Should be in the radiator, shouldn't it?

It was coming from somewhere in the engine compartment, the fitters say it does it all the time when it overheats. It won't be long until that bus comes off the road I don't think, as it is becoming really unreliable & when it goes into neutral the revs go really high meaning high fuel consumption.

i saw an alx300 smoking badly from exhaust and side vents, would have been better to remove the daf engines and get man ones fitted for better sound at least lol This was DAF ALX300 485 which was reported in an earlier message as being broken down at Agbrigg. It is currently parked at Belle Isle looking a little scorched and smoke damaged at the rear end. Penfold It's taken a long time but 485 is now back in service

Water pouring out of the engine? Should water be anywhere near the engine? Should be in the radiator, shouldn't it? Water has to circulate around the engine block and cylinder head for the engine to stay cool otherwise it would crack due to excessive heat. The radiator is used to cool the water that circulates around the system. Penfold

103 was making a horrible noise from the engine today & was looked at by an engineer at the stand at Wakey BS. Presumably it was the cooling fan that was making the noise. It arrived in WBS overheating and needed a rather large amount of water to top the radiator up. It left shortly afterwards back in service. Penfold

I didn't see it leave as I had to get on another bus. Come to think about it, yes it did sound like the cooling fan.

Tempo 776 broke down today on the way to Rochdale. The fan belt snapped & the driver who came to the rescue with 310 said it has already happened to a lot of the Solo's... so it is a fault by Optare by fitting cheap belts.
