Personally I'd stop running services in Harrogate when these daft middle class xmas markets are on, then I'd go down the road of blasting for six Harrogate Council in the press. What is it with numpty councils wanting to hold events when their town wasn't built to handle the traffic, bad enough idiots at Leeds Council think a Triathalon affecting a huge swathe of the city is a good idea in June, flaiming clots! Have Harrogate numpties never heard of banning all cars from the centre when such events are on? Just a thought Craig but not running buses when the daft market is on might work out cheaper than a run in with the TC. Councils will continue to hold such events as they are good for the local economy; shops, restaurants etc. No way could cars be banned from the centre of Harrogate as the A61 encircles it. Interesting that the operator who sticks "The Harrogate Bus Company!" on some vehicles has no where in the town to store vehicles at times when they are really needed - maybe time to rip some vinyls off. Go on then, I'm waiting for suggestions where to put buses in harrogate at times when all the parking spaces are shut....

Thanks for the replies. Stevie- they are public servants.... They only work office hours, so don't monitor past 5 or before 9 - in fact one of the monitors from Beverly, once told me he had to be back at Beverly by 5 to finish work every day and started there at 9! Mk2 - many thanks for your comments- we do try our best. As with everyone we have hiccups now and then but we can honestly say we have never parked a vehicle up because we haven't got a driver, or vehicle- something I doubt many others can buseirann- unfortunately that's not an option. We have to roll with it but our big problem in Hgt is nowhere to put spare vehicles otherwise at every driver change we could depart on time by sending a spare bus out. As transdev own the bus station, we can only park one bus there which ends up being a school bus, otherwise that would be late on schools. Asda, when it's most needed - I.e. When conferences or Christmas markets are on, is shut as its used by the vehicles for the conference or market, so there is nowhere in harrogate to keep spares. We don't have the luxury of putting 5 vehicles on the bus station and having a depot 2 miles down the road unfortunately, much as I'd like to!

No, what I'm saying is the decision to call a PI isn't made by the TC but by others in the office. The TC doesn't see anything until the papers are before him just before the enquiry. In the meantime, we have to pay a solicitor to tell the TC what we've already told the monitor who submitted the report. Can't say anything different as it's the truth! Buses don't fly over Christmas market traffic, and can't travel through closed roads that you aren't notified about!

As I've put on a Facebook post- those that don't actually know what this is about shouldn't comment. It is purely for service monitoring timetable compliance. I've learned a lot about PI since finding out about this such as the TC doesn't even call you to PI, it's effectively secretaries in the office. Then if you are called for one section, all the rest are listed. Our maintenance is green on the traffic light system with over 90% first time MOT pass rate- way above industry average. The timetable monitoring was done when various Christmas markets were on and road closures were in effect giving a false result. Our own monitoring gives us 95% compliance even on the journeys they monitored, when taken on run of the mill normal days. Please refrain from silly comments - the outcome of this affects 70 people's employment - please look at the personal side of it and think what may have happened if both operators had been monitored at these times, instead of just us (which makes you wonder why they'd monitor only us?)

That's not the view of the traffic commissioner. They'd rather see the services run!

Change of plan. No time to paint, so quick bit of vinyl temporarily

Would that be the #calcariaexpress mentioned on their Twitter account? Wonder if more people would be bemused if it was, just how many know that is the Roman name for Taddy Presumably you haven't been to tadcaster to see calcaria carpets etc etc.

Photo found on Flickr which shows that the Strider has had its livery amended with the side logos repositioned and the placenames added - also note the legal lettering in the side desti. Would be better to have given me chance to have the livery corrected wouldn't it? The 36 is painted on so had to go back to be corrected. also- you mention the blind..... They don't grow on trees- I've been trying to source one since I bought it. Unfortunately the company that probably has some won't communicate....,..

No real excuse surely for one of the ex Reading/Eddie Brown Scanias not having been painted by now. The three others that spring to mind are blue/white Solo XEZ3357 and white Ominicities S400SLT and S600SLT. S600 is indeed only borrowed. s400 is going for repaint into a route branded livery shortly- it's being designed as we speak. gxb is waiting for an adbell overall advert and has been for some time. XEZ is likely to stay as it is for the time being owing to loss of tendered routes in otley

They didn't even tell us they were thinking of doing it to allow us to try and get a feed working. First we knew is when the screens appeared. We are now on back foot and bloke from North Yorkshire who knows who to talk to so we can attempt to get it working is on holiday!

Don't know who you are sch, but I'm sure you dont need to twist my words. I've just sent a very strongly worded email to transdev about the lack of any notification about the new screens at Harrogate bus station -them not telling us about it has ensured that our services aren't real time, and in many cases aren't even shown- Id love for you to visit us and I can show you why things for a smaller family run operator aren't quite as straightforward to implement as those for a larger one with more resources

The lack of live tracking annoys me too. We bought Ticketer machines that metro and North Yorkshire wanted all operators to buy, and nearly 4 years on, they still won't communicate with their system. So, we took the matter into our own hands and were one of the first to get the find my bus app. If they dont track in York, I need to get to the bottom of it- our system tracks them
regarding the website- we are trying to get the services in some semblance of order but our web provider keeps putting hurdles in the way....

Interesting for armchair operators to tell us what to do. When you take a route on that an operator de registers as not commercial, you don't put heavily financed vehicles on it, do you? If the route builds up, as the 13 has, it will get better vehicles. Incidentally, those ex first scanias have adblue and are Euro IV emissions- better than the 04 deckers first use! incidentally, if anyone wants to talk seriously about what is posted on here instead of surmising what might have happened, I'm more than happy to tell it how it is to anyone that asks- by email or for those that know me, face to face, not on public forums
