I bash around on scenic routes when ever I get some free time, which at the moment is a hell of a lot. There are tons of routes I can recommend but I will try and keep it concise. For me, my favourite route is the 308, Huddersfield - Holmfirth. Nothing beats going through Oldfield and Netherthong on a full size double decker. You can then get a 335 which comes into Holmfirth just after the 308 gets in. It takes you over to Slaithwaite via Netherthong and Meltham. 232 is a fantastic route when a decker is available, going from Huddersfield over to Wakefield via Emley. The most scenic route in terms of being in the middle of nowhere is probably the 900. This runs to Hebden Bridge from Huddersfield twice a day. There is the 901 as well but the 900 is much more scenic. X84 to Skipton. Once you have battled your way through Headingley you head out towards Otley, Ilkley and Skipton. The part between the latter is the best. The 592 between Todmorden and Burnley is particularly nice. I would have recommended the 517 but unfortunately this no longer runs. Witchway from Skipton to Manchester is another long, scenic route. I have always enjoyed the X99 Leeds to Wetherby but more for peering into the huge gardens and houses as the bus passes through East Keswick and Linton. Though outside of West Yorkshire, the 24 Harrogate to Pateley Bridge has some stunning views. There are dozens more suggestions but this should keep you going for a while

With so many 69-reg Streetdecks on route 49, I am concerned in case it takes a while to locate one on route 4 or 16 next Saturday. Don't know if you're planning to bash them or photograph them. But I would say a safe bet is to stand on York Street, 49, 50, 50A, 16 and 4 all go down there

Starting the 781 at Meanwood is a bit odd. Presumably it's an easier way to interwork with another service, but surely continuing to/from Leeds would be better for the routes survival? To be fair, if-and-when people get on, it tends to be from Meanwood onwards. Very rare that someone gets on in Leeds city centre

Bit of a rant about the state of the 35. The latest timetable change means no buses run to Thorpe Edge. The timings throughout the day are pretty much exactly the same as the 60, mostly resulting in the 35, 60 and 508 all running up Leeds and Bradford road together. It still goes from 5 stands away from the 60 which is entirely moronic as more stands are now available cos of the Headrow works. The whole stupidity of First's route planners means that there are 2 buses within a minute to Rodley, Calverley and Greengates (or towards Leeds) then a 30 min gap. This is where Metro should be allowed to step in and regulate a corridor of buses between two operators. I do sometimes wonder if First actually put any thought at all into what they are doing or just make it up as they go along, wearing a blindfold and ear defenders. Or Transdev should amend the 60 to fit in with the 35! God forbid anyone should speak badly of the chosen ones! I would be interested to know if you have any idea re numbers to/from Thorpe Edge, or who actually owns bus station allocation? No mention of a later trip thats been added or actually how the 35 works round a school am. But bash First!! Why should their planners care about the 60 and as both companies have to register services at the same time, how would they even know what their changes are?? Bore off! Why on earth should Transdev have to change to suit First when they have run to the same times for years. The 670/ 760 combination worked perfectly, but now change the route and timetable without any regard for frequency along the corridor. First don't care about maintaining any connections that existed with the 35. The fact of the matter is the 35 is running almost empty throughout the day, the 60 continues to grow in passenger numbers but unfortunatley the single deckers struggle to cope some times. If you actually live on the route then I would welcome any more opinions you may have

Is this finally the end of the 781? I hope not but can't imagine who else would take it on.

With almost the exact same dull interior that's in the current Sapphires. That's Arriva Yorkshire's level of design for you. Unbelievable to think that the Sapphire route 1 (Chester to Wrexham) in contrast has such a light, spacious and comfortable interior. I wonder if the e-leather will end up smelling like sick as it does on a lot of Arriva's buses in warm weather. Agreed its not perfect although the interior is much lighter than those of the FWY Streetdecks although not as comfortable Hopefully they'll be lighter than low height Gemini 3s Liverpool have. Still no good for tall people like myself though haha. At least the next stop announcements should be less horrible than the First ones on the 2/3/12/13s, where the announcer is practically shouting at you and the audio is clipping and distorting like mad.

Holmfirth was awash with Streetlites today, I believe due to a low hanging branch at New Mill.
