It has been put in our depot news letter that Selby is to take delivery of 8 Wright double deckers in the middle of next year. These will replace 8 Volvo Olympians.

These new buses are more than likely being purchased for the 415 selby - york service which is by far the most profitable service.

The new buses will more than likely have speed limiters fitted to them.

As it is a local service bus, it is required to limited to 50mph. Yorkshire could possibly get a fair few VDLs in next years order.

Funny really, when I was talking to him he said that they are Wright bodies, DAF chassis and Volvo engines even he commented that it was a weird combination. Oh and he also said something about them being SB300 (I think), doesn't mean oat to me but might to some of you.

At a very good guess i would say that it is the the SB300 is the VDL dubble deckers chassis as VDL SB200 chassis, that is used on Wright Commander (now Pulsar) or the Plaxton Centro.

I suppose you mean VDL SB350 which I would imagine is the new replacement for the DB250 which used to be powered by a DAF engine. Yes, it could be possible that the new VDL decker chassis has a Volvo engine.

Actually, they won't be on on a VDL chassis the Geminis, they will be integral construction with chassis components made by VDL to a Wrightbus specification. They will also be built to an EEV standard.

Well, i think the difference between integral buses and those with chassis and body made seperately is that with an integral, not only are you getting everything off one supplier, but also i gather the body is built in a way that it helps the chassis in supporting the structure and giving it extra strength.

Wonder if these will receive a 'Connecting' branding? Will be nice to see some Geminis in the Arriva Yorkshire fleet.

Why can't we get to see something different in the York area like Enviro's or Olympus.

Well I can't see Arriva ordering any Olympuses for a while after the lengthy delay of the last delivery.

Shame then that they have also ordered 13 Optare Tempo's for Castleford which are now being built at the same factory as the Olympus's!
