Transdev to buy Top Line Travel Transdev Blazefield is to buy City Sightseeing franchisee Top Line Travel of York. The firm, set up eight years ago by Peter and Susan Dew, runs 10 open toppers, plus seven school and local service buses. Transdev already owns Yorkshire Coastliner and Harrogate & District Travel, both of which operate into York. Peter Dew, who will remain with the business, told routeONE: “We have always believed in the provision of a high quality service, but now we need the backing of a bigger group to further the next stage of our development.” From www.route-one.net

Will they still be letting Veolia use their depot?

Well it has been said on YDBN that Veolia are packing York in and selling that to Transdev as well.
I think Veolia only started up in York for the hope that they would win the lucrative Park & Ride contracts, well lets face it, First wouldn't of let Park & Ride out of their sight!

Wonder what will happen with their race specials (197) jointly operated with First? For those who don't know, Top Line park outside York Station, and First across the road. Both issue return tickets. On the way back they form one queue outside the racecourse, and accept each others tickets. Wonder if the 2 big companies will have this same co-operation?

What would happen with the fleet ?
Would the MAN's, Solo's, Royales all stay ?
I am guessing the TLT Metrobuses will go and maybe the tri-axle.

I wonder how long this take over was in the pipeline as it is a bit of a coincidence that Transdev teamed up with Top Line Travel/City Sightseeing to offer discounted tour tickets a month a go.

Was talking to a Top Line driver yesterday. MD going to be kept on for 3 years, so consequently staff feel more secure in their jobs. Some speculation about Coastliner using the Top Line depot too, which could enable shorter distance running without tachographs.

What about the veolia fleet, and TLT's old Metrobuses. I suppose the fleet will remain the same, look what unusual buses Transdev have inherited in Lancashire. Older Scanias with Northern Blue and have even swapped some Optare Solos for a DAF/Ikarus along with some B7RLEs with Tyrer Tours. As TLTs Metrobuses are used on schools, as long as they remain financially viable to operate, they won't be going soon.

[ Won't the buses need the tachographs anyway due to the 30 mile rule? I think he was on about them running some short journeys between Leeds and York, to relieve some of the pressure on the long distance ones, as their buses are apparently packed out now with free travelling pensioners! Only speculation though.
