Suspect it'll be to do with 1 lane out on the gyratory as usual with some pillock crashing blocking the remaining 2 lanes like they do when not concentrating. The gyratory has caused some massive tailbacks over the past few months, some of which have recently spread as far out as the far end of Elland Road by the Ring Road (probably knocking on for a 3 mile tailback by that point) with the motorway also gridlocked between junctions 1 and 2 east bound, and 2 and 3 westbound. In a nutshell, if you're stuck in a jam that's not moving, it'll be caused by a combination of no road space in city centre roads and roadworks on the surrounding roads as well as one of the following, RTC or breakdown.

Probably to do with some men kicking a ball around at Elland Road tonight.

There's roadworks on Whitehall Road near to the Globe Road junction which is causing traffic to build up as vehicles were struggling to exit Northern Street. Yesterday the queues were stretching round Queen Street, back on to King Street and down Wellington Street. Coming out of Leeds, Infirmary Street and Boar Lane were gridlocked right back to the Corn Exchange when I walked through around 1745.

Same again tonight, queueing at peak time from Corn Ex down Boar Lane round Infirmary Street (thus holding Park Row and Bishopgate Street in process) and all the way down Wellington Street onto YEP tower roundabout and gyratory, likewise coming off Westgate onto inner ring road that way

I have noticed now it's better going in to Leeds in a morning no issues but it's because the kids are off or it's it just quieter as it's now worse at night

I'd be very interested to know the impact the Transpennine Route Upgrade is having on traffic levels in Leeds.
I know there's now extra volume from the rail replacement vehicles, but I suspect many who commute from the Huddersfield line have taken to their cars to avoid increased journey times

It doesn't help on Aire St/Whitehall Rd/Northern St that the Marshalls have being taken away at the train station so nobody is keeping people moving and people are dropping off in silly places instead of pulling into the drop off area
