What are they doing to cost £8.6 million?

I’m not massively sure the layout having a separate waiting room will work that well in practice. People like to wait for their bus at the actual bus stand
Having 5 stands with an additional alighting stand will improve capacity though especially with the Mayor’s aspirations to increase frequencies

What are they doing to cost £8.6 million? getting the 2 buildings built will probably be the most expensive part, a year or 2 ago it was quoted as only costing £5M so inflation has played it's part as well.

What are they doing to cost £8.6 million? The cost of building anything nowadays is always in the millions. Painting zebra crossings is even more mental

People like to wait for their bus at the actual bus stand Having 5 stands with an additional alighting stand will improve capacity though especially with the Mayor’s aspirations to increase frequencies The problem with the current Hub, when it was opened in 2014, 2 services didn't call in (254 Leeds & 268 Bradford), then a few years ago, these 2 were put in the Hub, thereby making it not fit for purpose. Putting Bradford and Huddersfield, two busy services on the same stand, doesn't help especially when 3 arrive together (2 of one & 1 of the other), which regularly happens at the moment. Even when it's built and operational, will it cope with current operations or future increases?

Not in it's current location but not sure were else it can relocate to as the only feasible location houses the Health Centre. And you are right about the issues with 268 & 229 as it'll be worse if 268 goes back to every 10 mins like the mayor wants in the flamin BSIP but the 229 would get a reduction to every 20 mins.

Originally, before the Health Centre was proposed, Heckmondwike Bus Station was going to be built on that land, which in my opinion, would've been the better option, the Health Centre could've been built on the land where the Hub is and still have car parking by building it 2 storeys high instead of one.
Services in Heckmondwike, have always been on the road and around the Green, and when building starts, services will once again go back to road stands

It's like with Batley Bus Station that's actually been built the wrong way round as the building is supposed to be on the back of Aldi.

Both Batley and Cleckheaton were built the wrong way round, way back in 2004. Arriva had a change of MD 2002/3, who refused to spend Arriva's money on both Bus Stations as the existing ones at the time, were always getting vandalised, so Metro bought the Cleckheaton site with the extra Land, Arriva had bought and took over both projects. Metro turned the plans around, at Batley they wanted it the way it is, to stop the taxis from going through the bus station, and for Cleckheaton, Arriva originally had put the building over by the houses to quieten the noise from the buses and would've had two entrances (Bradford Road (where the current exit is) and Greenside with a turning circle) and one exit straight out onto Bradford Road (around where the shop/chemist is). This would've allowed services to enter from Heckmondwike side straight off Bradford Road without going round the block.

Heckmondwike Bus Station start date has been put back from February to April Feels like it is never going to get built at this rate. I also just noticed I spelt the town name wrong in the title Edit: updated title

Penfold Heckmondwike don't have a Bus Station or do you mean the delays with Halifax's, Dewsbury's & Huddersfield's as well as the current Bradford interchange bus station saga.

Heckmondwike Bus Station start date has been put back from February to April Are we to take it the temporary stop locations are going to be the previous regulars from before the Hub was built given nothing's been announced but that would be the logical step.

From what we as drivers know.....yes. A driver is family member of the shop at the far end of the Green, they have been visited by Metro and informed that a shelter is going outside the shop If you look closely outside the shop and Comrades club, the bus layby markings are still faintly on the road

If you look at the future timetable link on their service change website, they show the new stops. This was probably the plan before it got delayed. www.arrivabus.co.uk/latest-news/west-yorkshire-network-changes-feb-2024

I also just noticed I spelt the town name wrong in the title Edit: updated title Probably end up having to spend the money on Bradford and bus station gets downgraded again and hecky ends up with hub v2.
