From Truro I'd head across to Newquay because I love the place, First again From Newquay you can get to either Padstow on a TfC 56 or Wadebridge on a TfC 95. Either of these towns then link to the long TfC 11 to Plymouth and into Devon. It depends then whether you consider the Falcon to be cheating as it is a coach service but is registered as a bus service, would get you as far as Bristol, but if you don't like that there are other bus based options?

You are right sharksmith I'm not sure, I've seen the falcon but it's got more stops than a coach, in your opinion would u class it a coach or a bus, I think its got a ticket machine fitted

I Would say the Falcon is as much of a coach service as alot of the Scottish Citylink network.
If you wanted to avoid the Falcon I Think the quickest way from Plymouth to Bristol would be:
GOLD to Ivybridge 38 to Exeter 55 to Tiverton X22 to Taunton 29 to Glastonbury 376 to Bristol

X39 to Bath X31/231 to Chippenham 55 to Swindon S6 to Oxford X4/S4 to Banbury 77A to Leamington 11 to Coventry 148 to Leicester From here it would he tempting, and probably easier and quicker, to head through the Peak District and then through Sheffield & Leeds to link with Coastliner to Whitby. Personally though I think I'd be tempted to head east to eventually reach Grimsby or Scunthorpe and into Hull before heading north up the coast via Brid & Scarborough but your choice..?

I was thinking that, I do think scunthorpe and scunthorpe could be quite limited for services though except the 350, from past experience of doing a short day trip on a Saturday I've been on the skyline from Leicester to derby, from derby u have got options such as mansfield, bakewell, matlock, Chesterfield maybe

The latest copy of the BUSES Magazine (Dec 23) has the 2nd part of a journey done from John O Groats to Lands End. It is written by Bob Hinds who is something of an expert in these marathon trips!

I Agree the options was limited going via Gloucester, although the route I had thought of used Stratford rather than Worcester: T1 to Thornbury 60/62 to Dursley 65 to Gloucester 71 to Tewkesbury 540 to Evesham 28 to Stratford X18 to Coventry Another option could also be from Stratford heading to Derby to go east from there: X20 to Solihull X2 to Birmingham X3 to Lichfield X12 to Burton X38 to Derby

That sounds quite good the only.problem with birmigham I think is the start and finish of some.services May be elsewhere in the city, I do like the sound of the Gloucester side then stratford, Coventry side but I'm.happy for any suggestions to.look into different options

A few years ago, this came up on another forum and I devised the following route:
I reckon you can do it in 5 days, starting at Lands End at 0719 on a Monday morning, and changing at: (locations in bold involve an overnight stay) Penzance, Truro, Bodmin, Plymouth, Exeter, Tiverton, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Thornbury, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Evesham, Redditch, Birmingham, Cannock, Stafford, Hanley, Biddulph, Congleton, Macclesfield, Stockport, Manchester, Bolton, Preston, Lancaster, Keswick, Penrith, Carlisle, Galashiels, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Wick ... arriving into John O'Groats at 1334 on Friday.
Whether that route is still possible is left as an exercise for the reader 😉

Or at least sheffield wakefield leeds then further north if thay makes sense That's also a possibility – I did have a route that went that way, and it still made it to JOG in 5 days but arrived later in the evening. Lands End depart Monday 0945, St Ives, Truro, Bodmin, Plymouth, Paignton, Newton Abbot, Exeter, Tiverton, Taunton, Wells, Bath, Chippenham, Swindon, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham, Chesterfield, Barnsley, Leeds, Ripon, Richmond, Darlington, Stockton-on-Tees, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Thurso, John O'Groats arrive Friday 1854

At the moment from Thurso it's Aarons of Wick 915 & Stagecoach 80/280 giving a roughly 60-120 Min frequency with a 4hr15Min gap at one point (5:55 (280) 8:05 (80) 9:30 (915) 11:30 (80) 15:45 (915) 16:51 (280) 17:40 (915))
