It has been a while since TLC Travel did contract work up Wharfedale but I do believe the rumours as there isn't any other local company other than connexions that are likely to run it however I will put less money on betting connexions as there buses are running poorly at the minute and First is unlikely to get it back because they are not a fan of doing contract work unless it's services that heavily benefit the network like the 587 for example or evening 579 as they already ran the daytime service as a commercial route. They do still run the daily 653 Pool - Otley - Bradford (unchanged since 2017). Ah I forgot about that

Some cancellations appearing from Transdev Keighley in the Wharfedale area. PB0001748/123 Cancelled KEIGHLEY & DISTRICT TRAVEL LTD Route: Otley Bus Station to Otley Bus Station Service number: Dash Service type: Normal Stopping Effective date: 19 Feb 2023 PB0001748/120 Cancelled KEIGHLEY & DISTRICT TRAVEL LTD Route: Otley to Ilkley Service number: 962 Service type: Hail & Ride, Normal Stopping Effective date: 19 Feb 2023 PB0001748/119 Cancelled KEIGHLEY & DISTRICT TRAVEL LTD Route: Eccleshill, Park Road to Apperley Bridge Rail Station Service number: 948 Service type: Hail & Ride, Normal Stopping Effective date: 19 Feb 2023 Just out of interest, which publication did these appear in as I can't find them in any of the notices and proceedings online? My mums a regular on the dash between otley and menston. Driver has told her last day is sat 18th. That 19 drivers are affected as they are on the wharfedale rotas but that keighley bus are keeping them all with no redundancies and will have to find them other routes to drive. So that means if someone else is taking over the routes they not getting the drivers tuped over

Just because Transdev have offered them other work doesn't automatically mean they can't TUPE.

It is unlikely to be a TUPE case. For TUPE to apply in a service provision change, there has to be an "organised grouping of employees". That is unlikely to be the case here. There is unlikely to be a group of drivers who only drive these routes, or have a contract that says that they only drive these routes. It is unlikely therefore that Transdev apportion the cost or value of any such group to the contract for those routes.
In any event who is going to take the TUPE point?
It is well known that Transdev are struggling with driver numbers (signing on bonuses offered, cancelled services on a daily basis), so they are likely to want to keep the drivers.
The new company who takes over the routes may be worried as to whether they are viable or whether the tender will be renewed given the present uncertainty and problems with bus services at present, and are unlikely to want a future redundancy bill for these employees if it all goes wrong.
The drivers are likely to have the same worries as the new company. It is likely to be a smaller company than Transdev, possibly with less financial security. It is safer to remain with Transdev where there is less likely to be a redundancy situation.

Regarding the point about drivers specifically allocated those routes, that's actually the case AND more importantly they are on significantly lower pay, and I believe as well they are only contracted to the hours those routes operate with little anti social work except Sundays on the Dash. So, do they get new contracts with more pay and so allocated to any work? Are they just going to be allocated to daytime work on the same pay?

Transdev are likely to want to keep them. That doesn't mean the option to TUPE doesn't exist. They are, on the whole, a group of drivers who drive these routes.

If the drivers do not TUPE and Connexions win them it could be the final nail in the coffin of the X1 whatevers, they are constantly complaining on their Facebook page over traffic problems in Harrogate ignoring their unrealistic timetabling.

Should the Wharfedale lot go to tender, I hope Connexions win it and put a decker on the 966, after all they have one on the 964 so why not the 966 lol, it'd be funny seeing that trundle through all the tight back lanes.

If the contract includes the evening and Sunday services on Dash then Connexions won't have put in a bid for it.

TLC are most likely, also probably would result in renumbering the service from DASH to 965.

I'll be very surprised if TLC get it given they have lots of work missing daily across the North Kirklees work

Yes regarding the TUPE it won't be a case of tupe as they will have been employed by transdev and the drivers will have chosen to go on that rota, however when they lose the routes they will most definitely transfer back to the Keighley mileage. The only way for a driver to want to stay on that mileage is to.leave transdev and start work for the new company, it was the same as globe holidays when they took over the wakefield mileage from arriva on tender, a lot of the drivers stayed with arriva and some left to go to globe but no TUPE was offered

Then again could be A&A with a fat chance of it turning up. I highly doubt A&A will get any of the tenders as their public service license is currently curtailed meaning they would be unable to supply the vehicles required to run them consistently, not that they run their singular public service (the 30) consistently anyways but that's besides the point. www.vehicle-operator-licensing.service.gov.uk/view-details/licence/523253

Alongside the Dash, the 962 has also due to received developer funding to become every 30 Mins early till late on a daily basis (think it's some new development around Burley area?) so only the 966 would fit Connexions operation style of M-Sat Daytimes only.

Yes you're correct, the 962 is earmarked to have the frequency increased to every 30 minutes and have the operating hours extended, this funding is provided by the "Centurion Meadows" DWH development in Burley-In-Wharfedale. Although this increase will only happen once the housing development has progressed to a certain point, so it's probably at least a year or two away at least until that takes effect. Only the 966 and maybe the 948 would fit Connexionsbuses since they only require one bus and don't run on Sundays, although I can see the lack of schooltime services being a problem if Connexionsbuses was to take any of the tenders as this would stop a large number of people using them collectively for work/school

184 transferring to Huddersfield depot from Oldham Hopefully that means they’ll retime it to work with the 183/185…

When you’ve got 5 buses an hour of which 3 go to Marsden, 1 goes to Marsden via Linthwaite and 1 goes to Wilberlee via Linthwaite, I think you are going to end up with an awkward frequency whatever they do

If that’s the case linthwaite won’t have a good night service anymore 😬 It's possible there could be night shorts between Huddersfield & Marsden replacing the current 183 Journeys. I Wonder if this will affect the evening tendered journey run by Nexus Move to/from Marsden, assuming the Oldham journeys run to a similar time in the Evening from Huddersfield it means there will probably be later journeys back from Oldham operated by First
