Are there any services you would increase the frequency of?
Any routes you think should be brought back?
Any new services you think would be good?
I'd bring back the 228 route from Cleckheaton to Huddersfield but it would be every 30 minutes instead of every hour like before.
I'd increase the 255 frequency to every 30 mins for the full route between Leeds and Halifax
I'd bring back the 253 Dewsbury to Bradford as well as the 278 Dewsbury to Halifax.
The X32 was always busy from Wakefield to Junction 32 so I think that should also be brought back. I presume it's been withdrawn (I know it was suspended when the pandemic started)
I'd reinstate the full 128 route from Dewsbury to Wakefield as well.

The 282 only had minimal numbers between Dewsbury & Green Lane/Birkdale Road hence why the ML2 got divert along there as the main number of passengers on that section fit in with ML2. The 282 doesnt need to serve Howden Clough as you've still got 213 for Batley & DDH and 281/283A for Batley, Birstall & Dewsbury. The 228 route you mentioned could be a could one as it could help give the 201 increased frequency between Deighton Lane Junction & Leeds. I get what you mean about enough traffic on Purwell Lane with 281 & 283 but there's no service for the other end serving the school. |

Scrap the 164, and go back to the 402/3 and have it run from Selby. Wasnt the best service (402/3) but its miles better than the 164 thats running now - Complete disaster of a service. Only plus to the 164 is becuase its run from Cas, its got newer vehicles than the 402/3 did have

Sound like all these are old service that must not have been well used or else would not be cancel. Putting something back will not make it work if it did not work before. It should be new service to new place that have not had a bus and people may travel if there was a bus. To be fair to arriva they do try new service idea but I think they do not give it long enough to grow before they decide to cancel it.

I would have 186 running half hourly between Castleford and Wakefield to make up for the loss of the 187/8 combined frequency due to lack of drivers - same with restoring hourly sunday and evening service
Would bring back the 405/8/9 which was quite well used - it's awkward having to go from certain places in West Yorkshire to Wakefield or even Leeds to get a train to Doncaster when a bus was easy enough to do, even if it took longer.

Station Coaches are back on 128; it was temporary suspended due to driver shortage which also affected 116 as that temporarily ran Ossett to Leeds for the same period of time. |

I Would divert the 254/5 off Whitehall Road,instead entering Leeds via Holbeck Lane & Water Lane serving the Holbeck Urban Village that continues to grow,as Whitehall Rd can be bad for traffic it shouldn't add to much time but would mean it would have to be a fully SD route due to the low bridges on Water Lane (Possibly return it to a fully Eclipse operated route)

Service 200 Leeds - White Rose - Birstall - Cleckheaton - Hightown - Heckmondwike
This service would be withdrawn between Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton and will no longer serve Heckmondwike. People between Cleckheaton and Heckmonwike would need to use service 250. This service will instead be revised to run every half hour between Leeds and Cleckheaton and hourly between Cleckheaton and Windy Bank. This service will run via First Avenue and Third Avenue and on to Windy Bank Lane to create a loop around the estate before running back on to Halifax Road and back to Cleckheaton.
Service 250 Dewsbury - Dewsbury Moor - Heckmonwike - Liversedge - Moorside - Cleckheaton
This service will have a revised timetable to replace the 200/261 between Heckmondwike and Dewsbury as well as replacing the old 254 which was withdrawn.
Service 254 Leeds - Birkenshaw - Cleckheaton - Clifton - Brighouse - Southowram - Halifax
Southowram has quite a poor bus service considering on how close it is to Halifax Town Centre. I would extend the 254 to Halifax via Southowram and time it well with service 571 to create a half hourly frequency between Halifax - Southowram - Brighouse as well as time it with the 255 so the Halifax buses can leave half an hour apart from each other and interwork each other in Halifax Town Centre. I would also make the 571 renumbered as 253 and extend it so it can run to Bradford again so it can link up places like Hipperholme to Bradford again.
Service 261 Huddersfield - Kirkheaton - Mirfield - Robertown - Heckmondwike - Cleckheaton
This service would be withdrawn between Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton and will be replaced by an extension of the 250 service.
Service 278 Halifax - West Vale - Elland - Brighouse - Mirfield - Dewsbury - Ossett - Wakefield
This service is the old 278 brought back into service however it has a few tweaks to the route. The service will run hourly through Monday to Saturday Daytime with evening buses lasting up to 10.30pm every 2 hours and and an hourly Sunday daytime service between 9am - 4pm. The new route will follow the 561/3 out of Halifax Bus Station via Commercial Street and down Hornton Street then on to Church Street and past the bottom end of the Shay Stadium and then following the 537 into Elland Town Centre before coming off at Huddersfield Road onto Dewsbury Road and then straight along Rasterick Common avoiding the low bridge so if the route is busy in future it can have double decker allocations. The route will then run via Brighouse Bus Station. The route could then continue over onto Mirfield and Dewsbury via the old 278 route and then from Dewsbury run straight down High Road, Town Street and Ossett Lane into Ossett Bus Station. After serving Ossett Bus Station the route will run straight down Towngate, Queens Drive then straight on to the A638/A642 and Westgate and straight into the Bus Station.
I would also bring back the 253 and run it as Bradford to Wakefield following the 278 between Wakefield and Mirfield before doing the old 253 route into Bradford. However this would be numbered 277.
Service 571 Halifax - Southowram - Brighouse - Hipperholme - Shelf - Wibsey - Bradford
I would renumber this service to the 253 and time it with the 254 and extend it up to Bradford.

The thing is the 164 runs differently compared to the 402 and 403. For example the bus is ran out of Castleford depot and the frequency is a bit peculiar. They run buses every half hour to Garforth and then every 2 hours to Selby unlike the previous 402 and 403 where they ran hourly through to Sherburn in Elmet and Selby. I think what they should do is bring back the 402 and 403. |

They altered the route timings. Some buses go from leeds just to garforth, some to sherburn and some go to Selby. Not all go to Selby. Can be proper confusing if you're not used to the route. So if you live in certian locations you're looking at every 2 hrs. The reason I dont use it and just drive |

For Sapphire 229 I would add in an additional peak fast service numbered X29. The service would follow the 229 route from Huddersfield Town Centre to Heckmondwike non-stop and then pick up at all the stops between Birstall and Heckmondwike. After serving Birstall the service would run non stop on to the M621 motorway into Leeds coming off at the Geldard Road Junction to serve all the stops in from their to Leeds City Bus Station.

It's ridiculous that Arriva keep putting single deckers on them. Interesting idea though, the traffic is terrible on Whitehall Road. |
