Now, I'm not having a go at Transdev or Team Pennine in particular: they do at least list the daily cancellations on their website, and I can well understand that there's a shortage of drivers.
But lately I have noticed that the HuddsQuick 319 has more journeys cancelled than actually operated, while some routes such as the 524 or 532 often see two out of six daily trips cancelled. Some of the Calder Country routes which are only hourly anyway see cancellations which can mean lengthy gaps in service for some of the more rural places, e.g. one day recently two trips on the 561 were cancelled and both were journeys via Norland so Norland had a gap of over 6 hours between buses. Granted there will be very few passengers, but there must be some otherwise why run the service at all? How is it decided which routes or journeys to cancel?

I live in the Halifax area and seem to notice that cancellations only happen once in a blue moon. As for Huddersfield I have no clue. Also Norland is served every hour combined. There would be a 562 in one hour and then a 561 in the other so it wasn't much of an issue. Also I haven't seen any 524 buses cancelled I should know my mate I rely on the service to travel around since I moved to Ovenden. Yesterday over the Team Pennine network there were no cancellations. Also to answer your question about how it is decided is based on driver availability. No company is magic won't be able to afford every single bus on time, especially in the current country wide bus shortages.

Yes but I think if I had the option to catch the 562 for a 67 minute journey it would be miles better than waiting 2 hours for the next 561. I do think Krumlim is in a better place though with both sides roughly taking around half an hour.

I haven't seen a SINGLE cancelled D1-D3. Meanwhile... the 319? Different story! I noticed a while back how some routes were completely immune to cancellations... They are definitely prioritizing certain routes!

They are definitely prioritizing certain routes! Makes sense though as the 319 is covered by the 306 (and 308 to a degree). I'm surprised they haven't withdrawn the 319 like they did with the 324 (though I believe they hoping to reintroduce it at some point).

How is it decided which routes or journeys to cancel? if a driver goes off sick on-day a duty can't always be covered. The 319 usually has a high frequency hence why it can have trips cancelled to move the driver to cover a low frequency route. There most have been quite a few drivers off from Waterloo recently as the 319 had 1 full boards worth of trips cancelled.
