My local MP is reckoning that a lot of these route cancellations are themselves being cancelled. This is probably due to the cuts being registered before the government's funding extension was announced. He is also reasonably confident that where changes are still going ahead; WYCA can help fund routes and hopefully save vital services.

I'm guessing the route takeover could've been planned before the funding extension in that case.

As I've said before (perhaps not here): if these routes were deemed commercial by operators now, why would WYCA step in later? Especially if patronage hasn't fallen in the intervening six months? Propping up a commerical service means less money to spend on low-patronage, socially-necessary routes.

Their rising costs cannot be wholly passed onto the customer, so who foots the bill? Either WYCA or the service is withdrawn.

But they are not deemed commercial now, they was deemed commercial pre-covid but alots changed since then hence why they was going to be cancelled once the covid funding was stopped & will only remain because the funding been extended (If they do remain) . If there is not another extension & funding does run out in 6 months without any passenger increases then it would be down to Metro/WYCA to at least partially fund them or the routes will just be completely withdrawn

Some companies see some routes as commercial, but with a fixed number of drivers may choose the best performing of them. If the other obvious companies to run a route are also short of drivers it may need a tender to pay for a less local operator to be interested in it.

According to the local Bingley councillors, the 616 and 619 are rescued till March as is, the 615 goes hourly. Wonder if my 671 will be saved?

Interestingly two South Leeds councillors have posted about the withdrawal of the 46/7 and 86 services as if they are happening, yet the registration to the traffic commissioners on bus times seems to have been deleted. Do the councillors know something we don't?

I can confirm that services X98/X99 will be operated by York depot. There will be a small change to the Cityzap which is still yet to be confirmed to us. E400MMCs are to be used including some surplus Manchester ones
