Fat win, hopefully next is an investment into more bus lanes and infrastructure. Especially in Leeds, I thought people were exaggerating with how bad the buses are

It will be interesting to see if, after only just reworking its day ticket range recently, First will reintroduce area tickets again as their West Yorkshire day ticket will be 70p more expensive than the multi operator version. The same can be said for Arriva's West Yorkshire day ticket too!
Compared to other former PTE areas this day ticket will be the cheapest in the North of England, including countywide single operator bus tickets so something to celebrate. I do wonder who is paying for it though.

Yes I do hope it doesn't result in the network being starved of funds and having to make cuts, like what happened when the Mayor of London froze/reduced fares.

First & Arriva could argue that their tickets cover a larger distance (over to Lancashire/GM/North Yorks) compared to the Metro Day & keep the price as it is,First also have form for it as well in Staffordshire where their network ticket is around £1 more than the Multi-Operator ticket. I'm guessing it's getting paid for by part of the £70Million they got for their Bus Improvement Plan,be interesting how the reduction compares when other areas that won the funding start reducing their fares as well.

Pretty sure bus fares have been rising faster than inflation. I don't think they'll be anybody extra paying for it

Looking at 2010 fares compared to today's fares (for First anyway) the prices are largely the same taking inflation into account. I've always said this, passengers here should be lucky that they're not elsewhere where you can be paying closer and above £10 for a day in a much smaller operating area.

It talks about a reduction from £5.50 to £4.50. This is the reduction if you buy one. At the moment, if you buy 10, they're £5 each. I wonder if there will continue to be any saving for buying multiple tickets (interestingly there aren't for buying any day tickets including rail travel).

I was thinking of this not inflation

That is a good reduction for the Bus Day Saver. It recently dropped from £6.20 to £5.50. It will of course be cheaper than when it was exactly £5 for a while.

BUS travel across West Yorkshire will be free for everyone on Sunday June 5.
The day has been organised to coincide with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and the numerous events that are being held in the area to celebrate the occasion.
All operators with services in West Yorkshire are supporting the day, including major operators Arriva, First and Transdev.
No ticket will be required, and passengers can make as many trips as they like for free on any journey within West Yorkshire.

Once again it's on the ONE day of the week we don't go out Personally, I think you should be a little more grateful, that the bus companies are supporting this, they didn't have to do it. I think Sunday is the best day to do it. The bus companies will be supporting it as they will be paid for it.

I’m not sure all these freebies are a good use of the Mayor’s funds
