Caught a service 2 a few days ago from Sheffield to Barnsley, it was an E200 and it struggled up all the hills such as those out towards Chapeltown, and the one up into Hoyland centre. Saw one passenger look like he needed to walk, don't mean as in overweight, just that he wanted to get there quicker lol. The buses use the Voith gearbox, personally I think Allinson would be better as they seem to lose a lot of power with a Voith.

We always hear about the E200’s and their predecessors The Dennis Darts not being able to make it up steep hills. I think it is the gearboxes or whether they need to be re-done to hold lower gears for hill climbs.
Most likely the gearboxes are tuned for fuel efficiency and longevity rather than effectiveness of the types of road, they tackle.

The ones TLC have seem a lot better on hills, even the Arriva ones are better compared to these Stagecoach ones, which frankly seem shafted lol.
