B9TL 37730 has been painted into the new City of Bradford livery. Looks real classy... (maybe a bit of sarcasm there).

Streetdecks are some beautifully designed vehicles, minus the dodgy unreliable engine Dropped a pic of the repaint, just to make it more accessible! Nice faded 13 year old seats on show as well there Not quite sure why First don’t bother upgrading the seat moquette when repainting, particularly if they’re trying to make bus travel more attractive.

Even with the livery right now that they are painting everything in won't attract customers. With the mud appearing on almost everywhere of the bus as the whiteness is easier to see the mud.

I think it's a pretty nasty livery anyway. I'm not that hard to please LOL, it's just that decent livery designers appear to be in very short supply. I started driving regularly a few months ago (as public transport isn't viable for my new freelance job with early starts and very late finishes). A bland new livery on a First bus with a pretty grim interior would not attract me back to using a bus. Transdev or Go North East (for example) buses with generally clean interiors, nice colour schemes, USB ports, WIFI and friendly drivers does attract me.

Stagecoach and National Express has a nice and clean interior as well as I have noticed. It seems that Arriva and First seem to buy or refurbish buses and then they look rather tired in a matter of months.

And in the real world, it isn't the seat covers that persuade you to use the bus. You are either happy to use the bus or you are not. If you are not, because you have bought the car anyway, you think it is slow, often late or cancelled, and full of smelly/drunk/dangerous people, or screaming unruly school-kids with mobiles blaring out music with threatening lyrics, then no amount of paint, seat covers, or any of the nonsense that Transdev waste money on will persuade you out of your car.
If you are happy to use the bus, then providing the bus isn't so dirty or worn out, that you wouldn't dare sit on the seats, no one really cares. You just want the price to be reasonable, the timetable to be convenient and for the bus to turn up on time and arrive on time. You expect all the other negatives listed above.

It sounds like you're trying to read my thoughts, and are failing miserably... I stated very clearly what would appeal to me, and you've just totally disregarded that. Let me put it in black and white: I live on a Transdev route with clean, thought-out, modern buses with top quality drivers, most of whom know every single regular customer. This service only runs every 30 minutes, but I will always choose to use it if I am travelling to Leeds. Now let's say I lived in Lofthouse, Arriva's 110 runs frequently through there at a much better frequency than my route. Would I use it? No way in hell. Why? Cramped, low height buses that usually smell of sick and BO, cheap, nasty and dirty E-leathy seats, less than friendly drivers, a company that you struggle to get an answer from and a colour scheme that quite frankly is too dull and uninspiring to even be used in a mortuary. To quote Transdev: 'Buses people want to be seen on'.

To quote Transdev: 'Buses people want to be seen on'. To counter this,i use Transdev as well & I'm looking at getting a car (I Live just below Seacroft & commute to either Rodley or Stourton,so use Transdev & Arriva). Whilst the Drivers are mostly ok (you get the odd one thats not always 'top quality') the interiors can be mixed especially on warmer days as lets face it,all it takes is a few groups of youths & the interior won't stay as clean for long. You mention USB & WIFI - whilst you have a point with USB Ports is WIFI that important when most mobile contracts come with a decent amount of data, what will be faster to you & you don't have to mess about logging in. The most important thing is reliability, what is where Transdev gets let down understandably when you remember the distance the Coastliner routes cover, plus Route 7 having to deal with the roadworks connected to the new East Leeds road. Theres been many times i've just ended up walking down to Crossgates Rd for a 56 or 166 because of Transdev cancelling journeys (a mix of in advance & with no notice) As for Arriva,i can use any of the Pontefract Rd/Wakefield Rd including the 110 you mentioned. Now with there being more choice on this corridor i don't get affected by cancellations as bad but i can honestly say i've had less buses cancel on me from Arriva than Transdev. As for the state of the buses i think your going OTT With Arrivas standards, are they 100% clean? no,but they are also hardly the grotboxes your making them out to be (frankly i would be happier with Arriva running routes upto my house than Transdev) As for the comment over low height buses, thats laughable - would you rather Arriva ran crowded Single Deckers or Full Heights that kept striking rail bridges? As there is a number around the Wakefield area. As for Liveries,i think it varies person to person on who likes what,There are some liveries i like & dislike of all companies including Transdev (For example I prefer the HD/HX Connect liveries over the Team Pennine livery but think the Aireline livery looks better than the Leeds City livery). Also as you used Go North East in your first comment - as they are proposing cutting upto 25% of their network as their passengers have found other options, they are probably not the best example to be using. In simple terms,Transdev offer 'Buses people want to be seen on' - I Would rather have a bus that can be relied on

Going a bit off topic, I'd rather ANY bus turns up (although would obviously want it clean!) rather than some expensive all singing all dancing one. If all companies stopped spending money on new liveries, flashy interiors and instead diverted that money into better pay to retain drivers then we wouldn't see huge commutes and people stranded by the roadside for up to an hour, more on one occasion! When it takes over 2 and a half hours to commute 9 miles and not just as a one off then I'm not surprised passengers are hacked off. Try spending an hour waiting right next to a busy fast road in the rain with no shelter whilst the 36 does it's usual disappearing routine.

I totally agree with Joseph. The fares might be a bit lower too if the bus was cheaper and more basic and didn't have the all singing and dancing features too.
Transdev is all about hype, and as he rightly points out, they don't deliver these days. Harrogate bus station is the worst bus station in Yorkshire. Cancelled services, rude drivers, old buses with noisy engines, and water pouring in from the roof and windscreen when it rains. Buses that are far more unpleasant to be on than the new First Leeds City Streetdecks for example.

To quote Transdev: 'Buses people want to be seen on'. I don't usually criticize operators as they all have a very difficult job to do and many of the problems described can be put down to antisocial passengers rather than a lack of care. The idea that Transdev are some 'gold standard' bus company is just not true. At first when you mentioned a half hourly service to Leeds, I thought you were talking about Aireline but then you said modern buses and I realised not as the six 14 year old buses branded for Aireline could not be described as this. Understandably due to their age Transdev seem to have trouble keeping these six on the road, we were down to two out of six a couple of weeks ago, their replacements are 17 year old vehicles, occasionally we still get 21 year old Presidents appearing. I feel I can talk about Transdev and Aireline with some assurance having used the service to commute for over two years pre covid. Let's not forget that the route did have brand new buses, but these were Optare Versa's which everyone with half a brain pointed out were totally unsuitable and too small for the route before they entered service. Despite the numerous complaints, Transdev continued to cram it's passengers in like cattle until the airport routes thankfully removed them. Let's talk about free WI-fi and USB. I spent around two hours a day commuting on Aireline and my free wi-fi allowance didn't last the full journey, just web browsing or playing games, not watching videos. Luckily I was one of the first on the bus in a morning because I had to hop seats to find a working USB port on many occasions. As for cleanliness most buses are filthy by mid afternoon but more than once I left the bus after a morning commute to find chewing gum on my trousers. Not the fault of Transdev but again a problem caused by passengers on all buses! I'd also say that with one or two exceptions, the Aireline drivers do not know every regular passenger heading to Leeds, the turnover of drivers would make this impossible. Sure there were a handful of long timers who lasted my two years but it was generally new drivers every few months and not all of them were sunshine and light, admittedly none were outright unfriendly though. I have now stopped commuting by bus thankfully as it was a chore but I still travel for leisure. Occasionally you ride on a bad bus, a rowdy afternoon X63 where I alighted to catch the next bus instead, a Stagecoach bus in Cumbria where a local drug addict wanted to chat and a Transdev 152 between Blackburn and Burnley where the bloke in front had clearly pissed himself are all examples but are never the fault of the operator. With all bus companies the 'off bus' customer service is very poor, don't forget that Transdev routinely block customers on social media when they raise genuine complaints which is probably worse than being ignored. The problem with Transdev is that it's all smoke and mirrors, buses people want to be seen on, no-one wants to be seen on a bus, they just want to get where they want to go, when they want to get there and no bus company can guarantee that, I don't care who they are. I'm not trying to bash Transdev but credit where credit is due, First have really upped their game in recent years whereas most people would accept that Arriva and Stagecoach are on the way down. Go Ahead are a funny one, award winning in some areas, including the North East but absolutely slated in Manchester on a regular basis.
