I would expect 408/9 will no longer interwork with 187 but perhaps with 405 and/or 476 instead.

408/9 suppose to be moving to Selby and this is permanent That is gonna be very interesting indeed. When the timetables get back to normal, how is the 187 going to work? That should be interesting, as the 187 interworks with the 408/409. Unless they are putting lowlanders on the 187 Yes I wonder how the logistics of this route would work out. Will probably find out within the next month what is due to happen. 410/411 I can see being put onto doubles but do the lowlanders even comply with Leeds CAZ regulation? Would be very interesting to have a mostly double 187

Furthermore, bustimes is showing BSO on the 403 so I'm unsure if some Pulsars are being moved to Selby now they have (apparently) been upgraded to comply? Two tempos have been tracked on the 405 today so I can imagine some drivers may be testing them out going into Doncaster.

I would expect 408/9 will no longer interwork with 187 but perhaps with 405 and/or 476 instead. For it to interwork with 476 would mean a heavy reduction to 408/409 services which do appear to be well used. 405 seems self sufficient and to have the 405 interworking with 408/409 would require many more buses to go to Selby to operate it. 187 seems up in the air atm. My possible thoughts for Arriva Castleford's options in this situation could/would be: - Adding a new route in the Pontefract area, or taking over parts of/the whole of the 148/149 - 187s splitting route in Castleford, possibly adding buses to the 184. - 187 withdrawal (unlikely as it is a well used route) - 408/409 split route, where there would still be buses from Pontefract to Darrington/Wentbridge/Womersley but not the full route to Doncaster. Unsure, but I would be happy to hear other theories.

Tempos have left Selby and the 1600’s reappeared in the yard at Selby looks like playing musical buses Perhaps Castleford needed bigger buses than the Tempos to give a better chance of social distancing on some of the services they run? Maybe Selby didn’t need as many big buses given the service reductions?

The only route they'd be able to go on the lowlanders at the moment are Doncasters 408/409, 184 which interworks with it or the 156/159. Those work stand alone at the moment and are not interworked.

I've often wondered this, is why the tempos never used on a Sunday or on a Sunday Service type of thing? I've seen the commanders used on a Sunday but never the tempos? Has it always been like this?

I think they will have been, but not in the past 6 months: Currently they are assigned to 187/408/409 which are Monday to Saturday only service. On a Sunday the buses that normally operate these routes operates the 177, and I believe that the buses may be too wide to go through the estate in Pontefract that they go through, but the pulsars are able to so I'm unsure. They used to always do the 167/168/410/411 (it could've done the 168/410/411 on a Sunday) but since they've started to prioritise the clean air zone I believe that they no longer will allocate those buses to those routes. Commanders are often being assigned to 156/159 recently and always see a commander on 177. Not seen a Tempo on a Sunday for a long time but I remember seeing them around Pontefract on Sundays on the 410/411 last April.

Even some of the 62 reg pulsars aren't in regular service at Castleford. I guess they put the most reliable buses out in service. because there has been a commander out in regular service and they are older than the tempos. Besides I am pretty sure the tempos arent allowed on any Leeds routes anymore, and the Doncaster routes/187 aren't running now and these are the tempos mainstays. I guess they could appear on the 156/159 if they needed to it and they interwork with the 184, but these are being run by commanders/pulsars/even enviro 400s. So there isnt a need for them to run the tempos.

Yeah I noticed Tempos are on 156/159/187/408/409 a lot nowadays whereas they used to be quite common on the 167/168.
Pulsars keep disappearing out of service for a few days/weeks at a time recently, ie 1466, so maybe that's being upgraded. Been told the Tempos can’t be converted for the Leeds LEZ zone so will be confined to 408/9 mainly and other services that don’t go into Leeds so watch this space from April with the changes coming to Selby and Castleford Are you able to shed some light onto whatt the plans are/were for April for Cas and Selby? Obviously, im aware that these plans are still going ahead, they are probably gonna be postponed until this virus is out of the way.

It was going to be a major change going from what I was told by a driver. Selby were going to run 408 and 409 off the back of the 405. They were going to extend the 476 to Junction 32. They were also going to trial some new routes with one to Market Weighton too. Cas were going to run the 403 off the back of one of the Leeds services. They also said it could go into Sherburn business park like the SL1 did. I think the swap is something to do with the clean air zone in Leeds because Selby buses wouldn’t go into Leeds anymore. There were going to be some fleet moves too but some drivers were not happy about bigger buses being used around the estates so one of the managers drove a bus up from Wakefield to test if it could be done. Unsure how true this all is just what I was told. I dont know if any of this will still happen now. It was meant to happen from sometime in April but Selby are still running the 403 looking at the timetables on the Arriva website so maybe not.

The new routes, 1, 2 and 3 were registered on the bus registration site, I saw them and thought well that looks unusual, I can’t remember the exact date but I believe it was at the end of March when they were registered.
Edit: Having just checked the website, they were registered on the 13th of March, 1 to Thorne, 2 to Newport and 3 to Market Weighton.

They may only still be running the 403 to keep as much to business as usual as possible while the emergency worker timetables are in place. It would obviously be a massive change when the depots would've been switched over, with a lot of drivers needing to learn the new routes and some journeys being cut in order to allow for repositioning back to the individual depots. Have to see what happens throughout the course of the year.

Edit: Having just checked the website, they were registered on the 13th of March, 1 to Thorne, 2 to Newport and 3 to Market Weighton. You've got the numbers backwards - the 1 is to Market Weighton, and the 3 is to Thorne. They were due to start on Monday 27 April. Interesting! As they all run into the East Riding (and as the only commercial improvements made to the Selby depot services in the last 10 years are reinstating the 415 up to every 15 minutes, and introducing an improved service to Thorpe Willoughby to compensate for the withdrawal of the 402), I would have assumed they were funded by ERYC, but GOV.UK says that they are not funded ... so maybe Arriva are trying something new in Selby after all! I have often thought that there was scope for better services heading east from Selby, and running a regular service along the A163 to Market Weighton is an obvious possibility, especially with the cutbacks to the 18. A single bus could run a 2-hourly service on that route, which would then supersede the skeleton service that Thornes are running of 2 journeys a week (from Holme-OSM on Monday and from Bubwith on Friday). The others are more intriguing. The obvious route to Newport would be to extend the Hemingbrough/Howden service (removing the weekday link to Goole as it's superfluous, both Selby and Howden already have better links to Goole on other routes), which again could allow a 2-hourly service with a single bus – although you would think then that they would number it as 4 rather than create a new number. But the 4 was scheduled for a timetable change (but not cancellation) at the same time, so it is likely it would have been tied in with the new service. Thorne is a trickier one. The quickest route is via Snaith, but that is already well-served by the 401, and there is no change scheduled for the 401, so I assume that it is not running that way. The next logical thing would be to replace the 42 between Selby and Drax, and then continue from there via Rawcliffe. Whether it would then run via Rawcliffe Bridge when it reopens or A614, I don't know, then hopefully through Moorends to Thorne. Again, I would expect you could run a 2-hourly service with a single bus. A change was scheduled for the 42, so that would tie in with it losing the Drax branch – would it see the Selby to York section reinstated to hourly? All very speculative, I know ... hopefully we'll find out in due course and the new services will come to fruition once we're all able to start travelling again.

Anyone who is using it to track vehicles should do so with a LARGE pinch of salt. As has been said before ETMs will have been taken off vehicles parked up and placed onto other vehicles when a replacement is required. The machines WILL show the vehicle they were last assigned for and may not have been assigned to the vehicle it is currently being used on. Penfold

Penfold i stopped using it as i thought it very strange for one bus to be on 4 different routes at the same time in complete different areas mainly with Wakey & cas vehicles though
