Could someone please tell me (a) how many Arriva Yorkshire routes proceed from Leeds Bus Station to Low Road and on along the A639 (b) then which routes bear right along the Wakefield Road and which bear left onto the Pontefract Road
Hypothetical question Is there any reason - other than opposition from First Leeds - preventing one of those Arriva routes speeding through the Low Road/Church Street junction, leaving Low Road and turning right into Church Street to provide Hunslet, Belle Isle Road and Middleton folk with a longer distance bus service

The only other arriva service that could realistically be diverted is the 110 via Sharpe lane, belle isle road, balm road, church street and then rejoin current route but why would arriva want to divert a flagship service add to the journey time and go up against a 5 minute frequent service to Leeds

There was the number 20 run by First that ran Wakefield to Roundhay taking the 187 route from Wakefield along the 110 route then onto Ledger Lane at Outwood then through to Middleton then not sure of the route after that. Don’t think it lasted long and reverted to Arriva and retained the number 20 rather that reverting back to 187 until the shake up to services through outwood

Wasn't that when Arriva bought Taylor's of Leeds? That was when the Ikaruses buses flooded Dewsbury. I did board one on the 203 many years ago, was an alright journey. You can’t really divert an Arriva route through Belle Isle, there’s that many first routes it would create wasted duplication. The 481 goes through Middleton, and that used to be the 484 which ran all the way to Holmfirth ages ago. Now hears a thought, maybe divert some of the routes from bus station, along east street, slip road and along south accommodation road to Hunslet. E.g 189,410,444,446. Keep 110,167,168 on crown point section.

The 481 also serves Belle Isle and the John Charles Centre on evenings and Sundays diverting off Dewsbury Road. I suppose you could have more Arriva services serving this area such as 220/1 etc but whether or not it would boost passenger numbers is questionable. As for Belle Isle Road/Hunslet area, perhaps the 444 would be a good fit, turning left at Wood Lane End onto A61, then right onto Sharp Lane etc. Again added journey time and passenger numbers would be the main question but it would provide South Leeds with a link to Wakefield/Pinderfields.

I’ve sat on an evening 481 Leeds to Tommy Wass. And running via south Leeds sport centre is quite a longer journey by 10 more minutes. I drive to south Leeds sports centre to swim, and I can say that bit of Leeds is sparsely populated. I still think running an Arriva service like the 444 or 110 through Belle isle, wouldn’t be sensible. If anything I’d run something that goes through Hunslet, belle isle, Asda, Middleton new village, Thorpe, lingwell gate lane, out wood, wrenthorpe, Wakefield, (give it a number like the old 130) Runs hourly. I would propose such a route say if first were to Axe or hack the 47.
