Somebody buys it, then as part of the sale, they have to lease it back to AY for up to 3 years, while they find another site, and build new buildings, then move in. After that, who knows what the new owner will do with it.

When I asked the question it was more about what happens to Arriva. Have they got a new site somewhere else etc.

Have they got a new site somewhere else etc. Nope, that's why there's a condition of sale, that whoever buys it has to lease it back for up to 3 years to Arriva. I've heard that they don't want to increase any dead mileage, it must be somewhere with easy access to main roads be able to get to bus station.

Because nobody might buy it. The First depot in Halifax was for sale for most of the 00s, nobody ever bought it, so they never moved out.

The old Wakefield bus station was nearer to the Bull Ring on the site occupied by the new market hall. Growing up I remember all Wakefield's Leyland National 2 allocation being based at Saville Street.

I`m not 100% certain on this but someone I know and trust in the bus industry told me a week or so ago that the new Arriva Yorkshire Wakefield depot was going to be at the far end of Caldervale Road which is only across the calder from where their former HQ was and ironically its where CT Plus currently have their Wakefield depot.
Like I say I`m not totally certain and I`m only relaying what I got told.

And, I've been told by an Arriva employee, who is also a mate, that they're apparently moving to Normanton, alongside M62 and merging with Castleford. At some point, a press release or planning permission will surface.

All I ve Heard is that the new depot is hoping to be within 5 minutes of the bus station so that their would not be any real dead mileage. The Castleford/Wakefield merger would'nt happen not would a Dewsbury/Wakefield merger happen either which are the rumours doing the rounds. See if a press release happens but everything is just rumours & hear say.

I went past the BI HQ a few weeks ago and I saw the sign on the front for sale or lease and I`ve now seen on the web a few adverts with ariel view shots of the depot. So is the BI depot now totally closed or is it just the offices that have closed down?

Theirs a stipulation in any potential sale that arriva have a lease option of up to 3 years whilst they find new premises
