Yes, Penfold, it's true. I've given a Huddersfield based driver a quick lesson in using it and also how to issue tickets using the white pay and go M-card. Also advised him to get a smart screen dabber, otherwise he may issue more tickets than he intended to.

Going to miss the ALMEX ticket machines. The ones that made the buses look smart, these new ones just look like a mobile phone which isn't going to suit the buses at all!

It's notable how far Ticketer have come. At first they seemed to be a low cost option for independents, whereas now they are being picked up by major groups.
They really did rip up the rule book though, having a separate supermarket style ticket printer and a touch screen, rather than it all being in one box like was the way before.

All Hunslet busses did indeed have the new ticket machines today - seemed to be working rather well from what I saw, no obvious issues. When does contactless go live?

The new arrangement is rather cumbersome having to reach through the screen to touch the scanner, light years behind London with the oyster touch in readers.

That's more a problem with the design of the plastic screens than the ticket machines themselves. I had to do this, I boarded 64915 on the 47 on Wednesday and had to twist my arm under the bus screen. I have long arms but imagine someone having short arms having a problem.

They should have realised this before installing the new machines and either altered or changed the security screens first.

Going to miss the ALMEX ticket machines. The ones that made the buses look smart, these new ones just look like a mobile phone which isn't going to suit the buses at all! I now change my views. Yes, they may be a little annoying how you have to reach in to pop on your pass or get your ticket.. HOWEVER...: Scans Faster: Ticketer Had alot of issues: ALMEX Smarter: Ticketer Clearer: ALMEX Smarter Technology: Ticketer Easier to use: A driver may answer this one.. Looks cooler: Ticketer
