Hi
Sorry if I'm abit late to the party.. but does anyone know what buses are going on these routes, Arriva are/was having a launch in Cleckheaton. I saw something about it the other day, but can't remember now.
Anything leaving Hecky to make room?

Enviro 400 MMC's , Gemini's that they are replacing, think these are going to Wakefield to finally clear off the remaining spectra's

The launch is apparently at Cleckheaton 0830-0930 this morning. Funny time to do it, too late for commuters, too early for twirlies.

It wasn't a launch as such, they were only giving out goody bags, the new ones, went straight into service, on leaving the depot to run private to start points. According to another member of this forum, there's apparently, a press launch with school children, later this week and probably one or two new buses.

I managed a ride on 1983. I have to say I was disappointed with the interior fittings, especially that massive fixture containing a tiny monitor at the upstairs front windscreen. Forward vision spoiled, more so to the right is the Contravision style WiFi advertisement. No audio/visual announcements, which I think is poor in this day and age from the company. Then the driver changeover in Heckmondwike was to someone who had not driven one before and indicated Arriva just leaves the drivers to fend for themselves - no familiarisation beforehand.

The route branding looks even cheaper on these as it just had one straight line "Leeds - Cleckheaton - Dewsbury/Halifax" as if the latter two places are next door to each other, plus no mention of Heckmondwike or the fact that 1/4 journeys don't reach Dewsbury or Halifax

A bit off topic but relates to Heckmondwike Enviro 400 MMCs.
Given the number of Stagecoach examples around I've probably been looking at/"studying" the design of this bus body for coming up to three years, however, I only spotted one aspect of it whilst looking at an Arriva Heckmondwike vehicle the other day, 1982 I think....
On the rear glass panel that extends around window and destination/route display, there is a gap around the edge of the glass panel on the top right hand side. Poss at least 50cm of the edge of the glass does not meet the painted bus body as snugly as the rest
Do any of my fellow friendly Arriva fans know what this gap is for please? Possibly a "handle" to open the whole panel or some sort of vent? Thanks.

I was thinking the same is it for a handle or was it to let some air in or out of the ventilation. Hopefully someone can answer this.

Cheers for reply A1YBG. I've noticed the mystery gap on several buses this morning. Can't believe that I never did before!

Just been behind 1978, so had a look at the gap, it looks like it's an air vent !

Heckmondwike's 1976 has its blue and white curving stripes on the offside only sweeping down as far as the advertisement panel (as far as I could tell). A mistake, or removed?

This bus had an accident which meant a new front end and bits of the cab area. It's not a mistake just not had the bottom half stripes replaced yet.
