Whilst this enquiry is not West Yorkshire based, it involves local people travelling from Manchester Airport to Tenerife.
The question is - does anyone know the type of aircraft used on this route. of XL Airways? It flies out from Manchester at around 1700 hrs on a Friday. I have heard it could be a 747, but can only find 737/757s in their fleetlist.

XL dont use B747's anymore. If its shorthaul it will probably be a B737, maybe a new 900ER series aircraft. If not could be a B767-200

Thanks Humberside very much for the info. I can now inform my nephew. Trouble is - he will raise the question about details of the new 900 series, so if you can - they would be most welcome.

I would say it would be one of the following:
737-800 737-900(You wont notice much differnece on the A/C apart from the exist and maybe more seating aswell as the safety card) 757-200
The 747 fly's for Direct City.Com or did and would often be seen on the MAN/LGW-MCO. Very rare do you catch a Charter Airline flying Jumbos around europe even widebodied A/C on short haul flights are becoming rare with charter airlines

No B757's either any more. The B747's were flown for Travel City Direct
The B737-900ER's do have more seating than the -800's. Other than that shouldnt be much diferent from any other B737NG

The 39ER has one more exit and is designed to seat as much as the 752 did except it dosnt have the range.

^^
Under the name of Travel Direct and operate the Cardiff-Carabean and Flordia flights with another base.
If they were operating the MAN-Sanford flight they were a replacment for the A332 or 763

Steagcoach when did you fly the 743 for XL because TCD is operating a 767 and 330 contracted out from XL.

Did XL used to operate 767s, as I'm sure I recall flying on one of these a few years ago? Though I could well be mistaken, as my knowledge of aircraft is limited to say the least!
